I am happy that you found the mystery then. I am working on getting them all complied into one file so there is just one download, maybe save a page or two printing as well that way. I am also going to be including the cutting directions for different size blocks.

I am very happy that it was so well recieved and even more so of the results, those that showed us their work did a stupendous job. Way exceded my expectaions of participation.

sandyJ 08-25-2009 08:37 PM

thanks cutebuns.. for initiating this mystery ! it was fun just to read the chats.. and then see the results.. close to going to sewing class ( only not hefting the machine and supplies... LOL

where in th emiddle of a farmers field???

cutebuns 08-25-2009 08:45 PM

I guess I should change that one day, I live in rural Alberta, just north of Edmonton. Literally in the middle of a farmers field.

Funny story, we had family out last summer for a get together, one BIL emailed me for directions saying that the gps's can dump you in the middle of a farmers field and then laugh, I had to laugh, I had to tell him that it would indeed dump him in the middle of a farmers field.

Glad that you enjoyed following our progression through the day, it was a lot of fun for me. I have a few other tuts in the planning stages as well as another mini mystery.

While I was doing the final joining of blocks, they were laying on the table in a certain position ... and, I just couldnt' see that it wasn't going to be anything but a big mess because of my "light" choice ... but, when I got the borders on, and the mini ready for the photo, it really just started looking like I had known what I was doing.
I swear! (even though my mother says I shouldn't) It wasn't until after I snapped the picture that I realized I had turned the left and right upper 2x2 sections ... by then, no way I was going back <g> ...
This was a grand mini mystery, and I will be looking forward to the next one.
In the meantime, I am signing off to go pay bills, finish my THIRD mystery quilt from that one day special that got CB so excited, and put all the scraps from both mysteries into a little quilt for incubator cover ... and THEN! Cut some more strips for another mini ... JUST because I want to do better.
:!: :!: By the way, SUZIC46 ... is there anything in my block that looks familiar? 8)

I see a star in the Center if that's what you mean - looks great! :D I'm sewing my last row on now so should be able to finish today or tomorrow. Minis are fun.

SO wonderful!
Sometimes, the most straight forward approach is impressive...
I would do another mini JUST to be able to do something like your layout, KW <wave>
good show!

What a wonderful complement. Thank you so much.

Here is the full version of the instructions, anyone on dial up or that has an issue downloading it, I can email it to you, if there is a lot of problems then I will take some of the pictures out to make it a smaller download.

At the end of it there is the cutting directions for a 6, 9 and 12 inch block as well.

What a cute little quilt!! Love the blues and purples! It is interesting how differant it looks from McDaniel's quilt! Differant color choices make such a differance in the look don't they?!

sharon b 09-07-2009 07:55 PM

Thank you for posting the alternate sizes  Have to wait until I am at work to print out, almost out of ink at home

sewaholic 09-07-2009 09:39 PM

cutebuns,

Thank you for posting the pdf instructions to the mini mystery quilt. Will post as soon as I get a chance to make it. Great job. Looking forward to others. Hope I get to participate in the actual cyber class of the next one. :)

Quilt4u 09-10-2009 10:21 AM

Ducky 09-10-2009 10:53 AM

Thanks so much for all the instructions and alternate sizes, CB. You're pretty great!

springtime 09-29-2009 05:16 PM

Hello there, I am a newby!!!!
I read your first post about the mini mystery and copied the first posted instructions. At that time I didn't quite understand how things worked.

So... I thought you would post the "next" directios as before. I've been checking, but not there!

My question is, may I still get the directions? I have done a couple of mystery quilts at the LQS and it is wonderfully FUN.

Thanks, If not, I will be AOK. Just in hopes to do another Mystery...

springtime 09-29-2009 06:06 PM

 Hi 'cutebuns' I think I have figured this out!
I have gon through the 16 pages of comments and am in the process of downloading! It may take a while... Still on dialup!
I know, I know it is 2009!

cutebuns 09-29-2009 06:23 PM

sorry I missed it earlier, We did it a bit ago, and I will be doing another one, I just have to finish up a few things first.

We have several people on dial up,

I know that some are waiting for the instructions, I have to find some way to email them to you, hotmail doesn't like the file. it is to big. I will and have been working on it.

springtime 09-29-2009 06:51 PM

It is definitely a slow process!
Also, I don't have ZIP.
So I waited for ... a while...
And Zip won't let me have the instructions!
I think I can follow everything on your discussion though.
Your written comments are GREAT!
Thanks!

cutebuns 09-29-2009 06:56 PM

you have to unzip it to view it, most computers have a program that will do it, if you right click on the file, the drop down usually has a line that says extract.

springtime 09-29-2009 07:39 PM

:D Thanks Very Much!
I am trying that now. The pop up box says I have only 1 hour to go!
Keep those fingers crossed! LOL
The posted pics are beautiful. I am always amazed at how mysterys can use the same patterns and look so very different.
I have learned so much from reading the posts.
This is a very warm group of quilters. Thanks for sharing.

cutebuns 09-29-2009 07:59 PM

Everyone did a fantastic job on them, I liked this block as there is just so much that you can do with it. It went way better than I had expected,

We tend to have a lot of fun, and I hope you can join us for the next one if I ever get my act together :D

Iluv2quilt 09-30-2009 05:14 AM

Thank you CB for the Zip file and for the alternate sizes, you did a great job on this!! :D

zennia 08-26-2010 09:42 AM

Cutebuns, I just found this thread. I love your mini quilt. Thank You for doing this. I am off to try one.
I love everyones. They are all so pretty.

stormatsea45 09-06-2010 09:22 AM

I just found the Mini Mystery. Where is it that it is post in complete form? I'm on dial up, so will have to wait till I go to my daughter's to do the download. What I have seen looks very pretty and I'd like to do it someday. Thanks.

cutebuns 09-06-2010 09:44 AM

It is on page 15 about half way down. it has alternate sizes as well if you are looking to do something a bit larger.

stormatsea45 09-06-2010 09:56 AM

Thanks, I found it. I like it, and it's not a mystery to me any more, but I don't mind that. It will still be fun.
