It is extremely messy but it's worth it. I just used it for backing on a baby quilt and I love the way it turned out. I loaded it on my long arm and it quilted beautifully. You should try it at least once.

I've tied minky-backed quilts. just make sure you don't stretch it as you tie.

I bought my first piece of minky today for backing! Saw a quilt in a shop today with minky backing and no batting. It was machine quilted. It just looked so cozy, I can't wait to make it. My daughter has already claimed it though.

I haven't used minkie but have made several with polar fleece. I'm not sure what it is called in other countries. (Not what sweats are made of.) I didn't use any batting but the quilt was warm & cuddly but lightweight for little ones to carry around.

As an adult, I adore that fabric. I am thinking about making one pillowcase just for me with it.

ive used minkie on many quilts- it tends to be stretchy-so needs some special care.
it makes wonderful soft-fluffy-cozy quilts. as fro tying- i have a friend who tied hers- she made sure the ties were every 4" in a grid- it has held up for about 4 years now- still as lovely/cozy as when it was new. just be mindful of the stretch= you need to smooth it without stretching it-otherwise it will become wavy. |

I dont know, but I want to try it. So cuddly and soft!

Cut your minky and then put it in the dryer on fluff for about 10 minutes. It eliminates all of the fuzz and makes it easier to work with. I have made two minky quilts both with minky on the front and back no batting. I machine quilt with stitch on the ditch when I am done and it comes out fine. Using a walking foot when piecing and quilting helps a ton.

minkee is a wonderful thing, but you have to understand the wat it stretches, would not recomend tying, as when it stretches, its a booger, have done a few quilts with minkee on back, sews like butter, you just have to know which way to put it on. good luck,
