Has anyone ever used Minky fabric as backing on a quilt? I was thinking of foregoing the batting and just using the Minky as backing. Rather than machine quilting it I was also thinking of tying it. Do you think this would work? Would you use a normal 21/2 inch binding. I'm just not sure because I've never worked with Minky before. Thanks!

I have never tied one, but I do quilt Minky/Minkee for backing.

tieing is not good with minkie..it can stretch and shift!

minkee feels and looks great, but cutting and sewing it will send you over the edge. the fibers go everywhere even up the nose. everybody should try it at least once.

I know we all have a fabric addiction but I haven't tried to "snort" it yet!

Cindy's made a few child quilts in the past with Minkee backing. They're very cuddly and the kids love them. She always FMQ's them though. Like the previous poster said, I'm not sure they'd do well as a tied quilt.

Gee I never thought of that so it's probably best to machine quilt it. It's starting to sound like a messy fabric to work with.
