Mission Accomplished!
At the beginning of the year I had 26 tops waiting for sandwiching and quilting. I promised myself I would not make another top until all the others were quilted. I quilt on my DSM and I don't really enjoy the quilting part. I did give myself permission to piece blocks, just not put them together. As of this morning, I'm down to one top! And I have blocks ready for two more tops. Never again will I let those tops pile up like that!👏👏👏👏
Wow! I'm impressed! Any chance of you taking some photos of your finished quilts? I'd love to see them! About the number of unfinished tops I have awaiting quilting.....(mumble mumble)
Pictures please!
Well done! I have a couple of quilts waiting to be quilted and although I do enjoy the quilting, my arthritis only lets me do so much at a time.
I am impressed. I don't enjoy the quilting either and the number of tops I have is so many I'm afraid to count them.
Very nice! My stack isn't quite that large. I get stuck on the basting - need to baste two this weekend.
Cheers, K |
Wow, what a great job, when you put your mind to it you really do it, that is cool. Where are the pics of your quilts, we would love to see them!

Here are a few...i forgot to mention that they all still need binding!
Wow, that's a lot of finishes!! Congrats :)
I am impressed! I struggle to quilt one or two without a break, can't imagine doing that many! And they are lovely too!!
Wow - I'm impressed you quilted so many so fast! They look like great quilts.
You've made and quilted some beautiful quilts! That is the part that will hang me up every time. I'm not very good at the quilting so procrastinate like crazy. I think I have 4 or 5 that are ready to be layered and one that is totally ready for quilting. You may have given me the push I need!
Congratulations - that's super impressive! Your quilts are really pretty, too, so they deserve to be done and used. :) It looks like your quilt inspector approves of your work.
That's fantastic! Do you machine or hand bind?
Bravo!! Quite an accomplishment, and very beautiful too!!
Glad you got them all under control. Looks like your quilt inspector is busy too! I have finished tops in a bin, not sure how many. I don't quilt on my machine because it's cumbersome. I usually have a longarmer do my bigger quilts and I hand quilt the smaller ones. Now you can start making tops again!
Also, I like your quilts! |
Thank, everyone! It sure feels good! I don't mind binding so I can knock that part out pretty quickly. I really should be called a piecer instead of a quilter. I don't like that part! And yep, Inspector Hallie must approve all work.
Very nice variety of patterns and fabrics. Also like your kitty :)

oh my gosh, how wonderful!! Congratulations.
Pretty quilts! Congrats. I'm different - I make tops so I can quilt them. I love the quilting part.
Beautiful quilts! I love the colors! Good job getting so many done to the binding part!! You're amazing!!
An impressive accomplishment ! I too find the quilting part a chore. My world changed when I discovered long- arm professionals.
Wonderful! You really know how to reach your goals...admirable. :-)
Jo: I stand in awe. Not only are the ones you showed us beautiful but you stuck with it. High praise for a job well done. My objective for the rest of the year is similar to yours. Just want to finish some that I have pieced.
Congratulations on quilting all the quilts! You did a wonderful job! That is a LOT of WORK and you deserve lots of KUDOS! Well done!
Please, show us more.
and by the way...If that cute little inspector of yours helped a bit more, you'd be done. but we all know their job is just to enjoy the process and love it for us. LOL |
WOW! What an accomplishment. I love the quilts, but I'd like to bring "the quilt inspector" home with me.
Very impressive! That is a lot of tops to get quilted in half a year. Congrats on following through and getting them done!
There are some beautiful quilts in those photos.....they so deserve to be finished and enjoyed - and you've done it !!! Kudos to you.
Great finish to some great quilts.
That's an impressive accomplishment!

People who pile up tops and never quilt them make my brothers and myself happy. They do the garage sales. Last fall they bought a large plastict tub said "quilts" for $7.00. I ended up with it after may sister in law had taken out two completed quilts. Out of the rest I made one large queen of 2" blocks pieced together to 18" squares. All scraps.
Two Overall Sam tops completed and beautifully done. These were for full beds, I took one row off each one and my twins for my brothers grandchildren and a small quilt for my ggrandson. There was a completed star without corners, I am working on it not for a friend to give her grandson as a wedding present. Still have one more I am not sure what to do with it. Just received another 3 bins from a friend who is going blind. Another years worth of work. Sorry no pictures |
Impressive!!!!

I have a plastic tote of unquilted tops, about 18 at last count. I have been dipping into that reserve to finish quilts for some friends and for my sister (she raffles them off to raise money for various projects). Eventually, the tote will be empty and then I will either fill it again with tops to be quilted or use it for stash (I have 9 of them full already!) Every couple of years my husband will buy me a roll of Warm and Natural, then I can pin baste about 10 quilts, quilt them bind them and add them to my humongous wooden chest of finished projects. I think I might be a fabric/quilt hoarder!

I envy you, because, you are so much more disciplined that I am..........................
Bravo for your persistence. That is one labor intensive job. Anxious to see more of your finished quilts. They are beautiful with gorgeous color combinations! Sandwiching is the only part I don't like, and I do it the easy way.............ping pong table, with temporary adhesive, rolling it on boards.................but just don't like the process. I have many UFO's, but most have been interrupted by a "special needs" quilt as a gift. The UFO's are always started for me, and I somehow never have time to get back to them. Once the blocks are done, I can't wait to see the finished product, so I pretty much stick with it to the end. I try and quilt all but the really large ones on my DSM, but will have my long armer do the very special ones, or the very large ones. I am seriously thinking of purchasing a Baby Lock Tiara so that I can do all of them. Unless it is going in a show (probably never LOL), I machine bind all my quilts (back first and then top stitch from the front) as I have gotten pretty good at that step. I love doing embroidery and smocking by hand, but not the binding.........go figure.
I don't really enjoy the quilting part either. Your quilts are beautiful.

what a great job done! I always hesitate about the quilting part also, but find if I make myself finish the entire quilt as soon as I can I feel better about it. don't like to have a pile waiting to be quilted.
You are doing great.
