Pollytink I don't want to answer for donnajean but it looks like a disappearing 9 patch to me. I hope donnajean will correct me if I'm wrong.

p.s. Does this pattern have a name?

It is a Disappearing 9 patch. I used 5 sets of 5 1/2" squares. The quilt was made as a fireplace draft stoppers & is held on to the doors with magnets.

I meant to add that I would unsew the border strips and piece a new length to them. Then try that miter again. You should be fine. It happens to all of us.

That's how I do it, except, I think the extra length of the strip has to be the sum of twice the width of the strip......like if it's a 3" border, then 6" longer, 4" = 8" longer....but I always add an inch more just in case!

Geri, my post was a visual guideline. I have no idea how wide her borders are. Good point tho. Thanks

Go to youtube.com and search for mitered corners on quilts. There are several videos that will walk you right through it. Probably when you see it done you will remember just what you were supposed to do. Enjoy the journey

I love your quilt and the colors you used on it.
