OK - got it.
Thanks for pointing it out.
I kept singing ABC is my head so it looked right to me.

And yes, the cutter at Hancock's should have been more careful.
You are right to be a bit miffed her work.

I deleted everything I wrote because on studying it yet again, I really think just adding a black piece to the portion that's cut short - like a huge skinny triangle, and squaring that up - would be fine.

If you quilt the borders a bit heavily - even just with straight lines - it will hardly be noticeable.

And let's remember the intended recipient.
If he/she can't even spell yet, then I wouldn't worry about he/she verbalizing any complaints. ;-)

Really, I know I'm usually the first to always say things should be fixed.
But I think here the puffy letters are going to be the star of the design.

This is not something to beat yourself up about.

The only other thing I might suggest is to find out if this panel was part of a collection in which the B&W stripe was a coordinating fabric - then just get yourself the smallest cut you can and attach that.

Otherwise, it will be wonderful.
Really.

There is a stripe but it's not the same as on the panel.

The only other option - if it's really driving you insane - was what I suggested and then deleted.
To chop off all the left and both(middle) columns, and replace it with a black solid.
There doesn't seem to be any white stripes in the black area between the letters (vertically - ABC to C), so it wouldn't be noticeable.

But then you'd really have to take care to sure it was all nicely lined up when you put it back together.

Again, your quilt.
Your call.

(But if it were mine, I would go with plan A - and maybe use a primary variegated thread on the black background - it hides everything)

Silly me. this picture is the right way for the panal to be .... my panel was cut with the ABC row on the far right I didn't take a pix of my panel. Sorry I didn't make this clear.

I think you can just cut the three columns apart and sew them back together. Then won't everything be in the right order?

(ETA: It sounds like you only need to cut and reorder the last column, the one with the A- but I would do the other one too, that way there are seams between all the columns when you fix it.)

I think I would cut the blocks apart and add sashing to it. It will make more work, but I think you will be happier with it after all your work making the puffy letters.

Sorry that your panel was cut wrong - I must say that I have the same - actually I purchased a quilt kit with this panel =It made a really cute quilt - I cut the letters apart and added sashing around each letter - then sewed them back together - I will try to get a pic to show.
