ManiacQuilter2.....You stated that you only buy Kona from your LAQ, is it really different from the Kona from JoAnn's? Coming from the same supplier I would think there would not be a difference.

I usually go with which has the color I need. BUT I very seldom use solids, I feel they are too drab, regardless of the color. I prefer a tone-on-tone, feels like it has more movement.
|
Lately when I need a solid I find myself going to Wal Mart and buying the Waverly line of fabric for under $3 a yard. It's very high quality I think.
|
I like Kona best but use have used most other brands also over the years. I always wash first so most problems are taken care of before I use them. When Kona has my color that is always what I buy.
|
I love Kona! My first choice is always Kona, but I have found some cottons that I do like.
|
I buy Kona because it's easier to find but I have one length of Bella and can't really tell much difference.

I have always preferred Kona cotton since it is more accessible for me to buy. I have used it since it first came out. I only BUY from LQS to get the best quality. Too bad someone doesn't invent a spray starch that will keep the fabric from unraveling the cut edges.

The Kaufmann people have confirmed that there is only ONE quality of Kona cotton no matter where you buy it. I have heard people say that Joann's will reuse Kona cardboard bolts and wrap a different brand on them which they should not do.

When I do use Kona black, I'm always surprised how much lint sticks to it. |
I have used both but like the Moda Bella cottons better. I find that it seems, to me at least, to be more densely woven.
