Morris Holiday Gold Guilded Fabric
 

I've been hoping to make a special quilt with this pattern, when the right fabric came along, for 15 years. Now I'm disappointed. Should I leave all of the cream? Or would it help to put more black in? I want to showcase this fabulous fabric. I'd appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks for all of your comments! It looks like black is the winner. I will be spending a lot of time with my seam ripper. Sigh....

I really like the black because it pulls the pattern together whereas the cream seems to push it apart visually. I really like that fabric; it is elegant and works so nicely in the pattern you have chosen.

I really like the black too - adds a lot of drama and showcases the colors.

Both are great, but prefer the cream

What you are calling "cream" looks very starkly white in the pictures. If it is really more muted, then that is great!
