What a lovely special granddaughter you have. I'm sure she will love her new quilt as soon as you give it to her. When my only grandchild (DGS) was asked what he wanted from me for Christmas, he named the 4 quilts I've already made him and asked specifically for a Lego quilt from Yia-yia. He'll be a very happy boy when he gets that one on Christmas morning! :-) Gkids are absolutely the best.

Such a wonderful young lady. You should be proud of her and scream it from the highest mountains.

I have an 11 year old granddaughter. I have been making a Grandmother's Flower garden quilt for the past year and get sidetracked with other projects, one of which was a scrappy quilt that took a lot of time and patience. When it was done, my DGD asked me who it was for and I said that since I put so much time and work into it, I would take it. She said then she would get the GFG quilt! I said not as long as I was breathing. Guess she likes my quilts (hers was the first one I made)

Oh, that's so sweet. I think she should be allowed to cut in line.

Yes, for that, I would be working day and night to get it finished for her in time for the Family Christmas Party--we always have ours on Christmas Eve. You DGD is precious.

Love, Love, Love this.
Her quilt would have gone to the top of my list.
I usually make my DGC a quilt before they are born. Then a new one for their first birthday. Then after that I have them help the next ones.
I start them about 2 years old. I sit them on my lap and put my hands on theirs. they love it. When my DGD turned 9 she started to make her own. I love it.

I was telling her it would probably be a while as I have a few in line before her. Then I was showing her some of the UFOs I have that she could choose from to make it faster. There was one that she liked and I told her she could have that one.
She looked thoughtful for a bit then she said, "No Nana, it needs to be one you were thinking about me the whole time while you made it. That's what makes it special."

Isn't it great when you know your family really gets you and understands what you do? I had to hug that girl till she squeeked and said, "Nana, you are squishing me." LOL

Sometimes I share sad things, so I am delighted to share this wonderful moment. Every time I think of it it makes me :D.

She is so right! When it's for someone you love, you sew love into every stitch!!!!!!
