Hi and welcome. There are several of us here in silicon valley. Do you know what area you will be moving to? There are a lot of great quilt shops here and the surrounding areas.

toomanycats 01-30-2011 08:59 AM

Welcome from northern california. Our daughter lives down south in central california in san francisco.

AnnaK 01-30-2011 09:27 AM

Welcome on Board! I don't live in Silicon Valley but a little farther north in the San Francisco east bay. I think you will find a very vibrant quilting community and very nice shops in your new digs. Look up guilds when you get here; that's the best way to make new quilting friends. Good luck!

Hi Everyone,
Again thanks for all the wonderful welcomes! We are not sure what city but anticipate between San Francisco and San Jose. I have a sister and brother in SF and sister in Sacramento. DH will be working in Tucson AZ and commuting.
House prices will play a large factor in location.

sewingsuz 01-30-2011 06:28 PM

Welcome from Arizona. You moved far. You will probably like Calif.

lynntelson 01-30-2011 06:33 PM

We have moved around quite a bit. Met in CA, kids born in Austin TX, moved back to CA, then to Lancaster PA, on to NY. Now back to CA where my family is.

With the house prices here you might want to look in towns between San Jose and San Francisco such as mountain view, Sunnyvale . Some of the smaller towns aren't as high priced. Best of luck on your move.

thenonnielady 01-31-2011 03:18 AM

Wow! That's some move. And life-style change... enjoy!
Welcome from E Tennessee. moved from snow-covered Michigan 30 years ago, and love it here.

pocoellie 01-31-2011 05:29 AM

Welcome from northeast CA. So glad you joined us. If you don't mind me asking, your husband will be working in AZ., but you're moving to CA.? Why don't you move to AZ.? The housing would be a lot more reasonably priced than the area you're planning on moving to.

Nanjun 01-31-2011 05:46 AM

Welcome from central Louisiana

lynntelson 01-31-2011 06:57 AM

Not moving to AZ because my sisters and brother are in CA. My sister in law is also there. My DH is staying at his mom house, and yes housing is much more reasonable there but not where I want to be now.

clipper35 01-31-2011 07:01 AM

If your looking for somewhere resonable try Stockton, we bought here and got a great deal on a house, and love it here. Plus we have a great quilt guild.

Don't worry. If something exists anywhere it will be available within 60 miles of where you are in silicon valley. I used to live in north bay. Welcome to the board.

I'm moving back to Livermore - not too far from Silicon Valley. There are numerous quilt guilds within a easy driving distance from Livermore. Not to mention that Alex Anderson lives in Livermore. The Quilt Museum is in San Jose.

Welcome Lynn, I live a bit further north but I can tell you there are quilters there, lots of them. Any the big Pacific International Quilt Show is in Santa Clara every October. You are going to love it in CA. There are lots of quilt shops and quilters here and I am sure you'll find them.
