I enjoy my sewing with the freedom of dropping one project to pick up another to work on. I get bored really easy so off I go to something else. Do I feel bad about this, absolutely not. My projects do all get finished.
|
I try to work on one project at a time but I currently have my next 4 projects already planned. My problem will be which project do I do next. There have been times however when what I am working on goes wrong and then I just get upset and quit that project for the time being.

I think a lot of quilters are like me, they have AADD. I get enthusiastic about something, work on it a while, get bored, start something else, get bored - go back to the first project, get bored, etc., etc.
I have some projects that I finish in a day or two because I'm so enthusiastic, but others languish when I get to a point that I can't decide how to proceed. I started a quilt for my husband, I have twelve blocks almost finished, have the backing, etc., but ran into a snag on the blocks where I didn't like the finishing and have had it put away for several years. I've now decided that the finish (raw edge applique) won't look as bad as I thought so I'm going to finish it sometime this summer. |
If I only had one project going, when I got tired of working on it, then I would just quit and not do anything. This would be BAAAAAAAAD! So instead, I just pick up a different project, my enthusiasm returns, and I'm on my "happy" way again! I thought this was normal. Isn't it?????

I don't until it is binding time. Somehow I always manage to have binding projects for 2 or 3 of them!!!
|
I have so many going that I don't even want to get into the room for fear that I'll start another. I need to concentrate on finished what I've started!
|
I might have several in the collecting fabrics for stage but as a rule, I only have one in the active stage.
|
Hard to do one at a time, especially if you get involved with a BOM. Hate to get too many started for fear none will get done.
|
have 3 work in progress, but just picked up my BOM so will start that one too
|
I usually have at least 2 going, one at my machine and one hand project.
|
When I first started quilting my rule was to finish one project before starting another - well that rule went by the way side long ago. I have more UFO's than I want or need and I am always eager to start the next 'new' project.
And sometimes I have more than one project going at a time so if I get bored with one, work on the other, that's normal right? |

I like to have several projects going at the same time. I am on block #11 of 12 red work blocks. Started another with 55 5" blocks of wool for applique. Quilt top finished waiting for the back. One quilt waiting for the LAM. August wall hangings waiting to be started. Summer dress I want to make, but summer is very hot and slowly slipping away. Yea, I like several things going on.
|
I have 6 or 8 going, I get bored quickly, but I want to be working on something that has to do with quilting 24/7. So this way, I can do what ever I feel like, cut one time, quilt, sew, bind, coloring fabric, applique and I have more than a dozen quilts with all the fabric for that quilt in their own drawers. I make small quilts so it's easy to make one, and have a dozen things in the pot going at all times. And with all the things I'm working on, I only have one UFO, and it's been a UFO for more than 10 yrs now. I just don't know what I want to do with it yet. I lost the original pattern and only have 3 of the 4 blocks I wanted to make.
|
I am a multiple project worker also. The more the merrier and i have a great time trying new things and work on what I feel like.
|
I pretty much piece one at a time. However, I do have several tops waiting to be quilted.
|
Of course I do. One day they will all come together and I will be done.
|
I have many WIPs. Part of it is disorganization, and the fact that I have cat helpers who arrange things for me. And part of it is that I get bored doing the same thing, or I lose steam on projects. But they'll get picked up eventually.
I haven't been very productive lately, since part of my sewing area has been taken over by the air conditioner, and I'm down in the dumps due to my mother's death. But I think I'm ready to start again... I was going to finish my mother's chemo quilt and give it to her sister, my aunt. |
I can't even count the number of projects I have. I just can't
wait to start something new. |
Yep. I currently am behind on 2 projects (mystery quilt & a BOM) and need to finish one grandson quilt, the fans I showed y'all several months ago (Hey! don't need them until December!) And completely make another one for December craft raffle. Why oh why do I do this??

I find myself having to work on only one project otherwise I get frustrated easily.

I usually have half a dozen in various stages of completion. What can I say............I get bored easily!

I quilt and sew, so I have quite a few projects going at one time.
I like to piece when I go to a quilt retreat. So I cut out 2 or 4 projects to take with me. I usually spend about half a day on each one. I usually stick with those projects until I get all of the blocks pieced. Then I have to be in the mood to put the blocks together. I may have several hanging on my design wall waiting for the borders to be put on. Then I wait until I am in a real creative mood to put them on my long arm and quilt them. In between I will be working on a table runner... maybe matching placemants or napkins... or some other smaller projects, also. Some days you want to start and finish something.I think I would wonder what was wrong with someone that only worked on one project at a time! |
When I was younger I used to work on multiple projects to keep me interested, but DH always got on me about it. Now I try really hard to stick to just one at a time & he rewards me by allowing me to go on a sewing spree from time to time. That generally keeps me on track..I love fabric!! LOL!
|
I always have more than quilt going at one time. From time to time my creative juices get stuck in the pulp of my thinking or I just plain get tired of working the same block. I then switch to another project and keep moving ahead. I have 5 quilts in one stage of another of completion. But they will all be finished by..... let's say the holidays. Not sure which holidays, but this year, 2011 any way.
|
How do any of you get any quilting done when you're on the computer so much lol..
By the time I read these posts there are already 5,6,7 + pages to go through. Some of you are really fast at getting out the replys....you should be quilting (:0) |
I don't read every reply and I don't read every posting. For instance I often skip old and new sewing rooms or spaces. I'll look at those when I have the chance to redo mine. I skip the featherweight topics. Not an option for me at this time.
On the other hand I never skip the photos of board member work. I love to see what others have been doing. I use it as my "coffee break" at work and sometimes even my lunch break. What really takes time is when I do reply to a message and for several days I keep getting the replies from others. I'd never get my work done if all I did was read the postings. |
Absolutely, have 2 going now, not too bad.
