Just for the record, yesterday the bobbin ran out 14.5 inches from the end.

This morning, just barely 5"

Just did this two days ago. So I loaded the bobbin, but didn't bother to repin. Got to the end and found out they were about 1/2 inch off. Had to un-sew all the way back, re-pin, and sew for the third time.

Wow, ditto to all.

Or, your short arm quilting machine keeps breaking the top thread. You try everying for hours. Finally give up and wait for the weekend to drive 90 miles one way to take it to the shop. Have to wait two weeks to drive another 90 miles each way to pick it up to only have the tech tell you there is nothing wrong with it. Take it home, ask next door neighbor's husband to remount it on the frame and the first row it is breaking thread again. Finally decide to change thread manufacturer and it works perfect. . . . . except that the color is off just enough to be noticeable. Luckily it is a baby quilt with flannel on both sides, so it might hide the thread.

Me too! I have one more to add, realizing the last 9 pieces you sewed, you forgot to move the needle position so you have been sewing 1/4 in seams, not scant 1/4....

I have a friend who is a famous machine quilter -- she has a quilt that has won ribbons -- it has fabric scraps quilted on the back.

The only pin on the floor of the sewing room is the one that DH found with his foot.

After patiently cutting blocks with 4 layers of different fabrics you find that you have one piece folded in half so the pieces are too small -- and of course that is the only fabric you don't have any more of.

It is 11PM an you are ready to quilt your white quilt and you realize you have every other thread in the rainbow (including shades of gray and tan) but no white.

You are working under the CFL lights and you pull colors to match your focus fabric. You finish the quilt, and take it into a room with natural light and discover that the color in the focus fabric is not medium orange but medium pink.

The only seam ripper you can find when you need to rip some real tight stitches is the one with the broken tip.

You get ready to go downstairs to quilt when DH asks for help for a minute -- however it takes him an hour to get things ready for you to help him.

One more:
Your main machine is having problems so you pull out the machine you take to class. Unfortunately, you chain piece a whole strip before you realize that the needle was in the wrong position for a 1/4" seam.

That one is the worst. I just pinned and matched all my seams , sewed and then found I ran out of bobbin thread after the first inch of a 118" seam. grrrr.

Guilty!! Done more than once... I love these.... haven't had a good laugh in a long time... thanks all
