thanks again for sharing the photo, awesome
I was at a quilt shop last month and they had the pretty designs in flannel, that might be an option and probably wouldn't have to be a batting in it |

Hi, Are the sizes of 9 pieces used to make the 9 patch the same size? Your large squares seem so much larger.

I used 5.5" squares with .5" seams. Not sure what size block I was suppose to end up with, but they were all blocked at 13".
Love your quilt. I'm debating on making another D9P (not denim), or something different. So many choices! We did pretty good for our first quilt! |
Honchey, wow, thanks for posting your photo, cool, love the colors

Hi Twisted, Guess what --- I used the same size !!! 5.5 ". The first thing I made was a hand pieced pot holder. I gave it to my mother. She never used it!!! Ever since that first project I tend to go back to the 9 patch. It's so easy. I saw the tutorial for the DNP on Missouriquiltco.com and decided to make one. I had the print and plaid fabric in my 10 yr old stash and purchased the accent colors to match. I do have to add the borders. I've been pulling fabric for a kids DNP for my grandsons. I'm going to do it in flannel then just back it with polar fleece. I teach sometimes where I work part time and The photo shows the quilt I did for my first class. I designed it myself. A 9 Patch !! Theres so much you can do with a 9 Patch!

I used a plaid flannel (a fairly tight weave with little stretch) and just tied it. Batting just wasn't needed. I'm sure the men in your life will love this quilt.

Honchey- that's beautiful!! I ADORE the 9 patch too! :D |
With the weight of the denim (as someone else stated) I don't know if I would add the batting.

I quilted a denim for a customer, she added batting and batik for the backing. I did move up to a larger needle and all went well.
