Okay, I've completed my denim D9P top, and ready to finish this baby! The only problem I have is making a decision on the backing. I think I want to use muslin, but don't know which thickness would work best w/denim.
So, what muslin weight would you suggest? I also plan on using a thin warm & natural batting. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. |
I would love to see your D9P, please share a photo

it is going to weight a ton! LOL
my friend made me one, a raggedy denim and put some beautiful flannel on the back. looked like hounds tooth fabric.. she also used the warm and natural. they make the roc-lon in wide widths at Joanns ..i think that would work just fine. |
need pic please? Want to see it....bet those denims added dimensions & interest to being a quilt!

WOW! awesome job! did you use used jeans or buy the denim? it looks so cool!

Thanks, I like it too! I got the majority of denim at rummage sales. I ran out of the white when I was about 3/4 of the way finished and had to buy a 1/2 yard.

Gorgeous denim quilt top!

Your quilt will be heavy and maybe you don't even need batting. Did you consider just adding flannel or fleece and skipping the batting? I used a plaid flannel (a fairly tight weave with little stretch) and just tied it. Batting just wasn't needed. I'm sure the men in your life will love this quilt.

Initially I wanted to use flannel but couldn't find anything I really liked. It still might be an option, I probably need to shop around a bit more.
