Today my youngest daughter called in the morning. She and her boyfriend were going to garage sales and checking out an estate sale. She called to let me know there was (in her words) and old looking Singer sewing machine in a cabinet for $35.00. Looks like something you like Mom......do you want it. She said the cabinet was in great shape and the machine looked OK. I asked it it sewed and she had them plug it in and let me know the light goes on and the needle moves up and down. (This child knows nothing about sewing.  ). I said OK buy it. I figured the cabinet was worth that anyway. She came home with a beautiful blond cabinet ( not a thing wrong with it ) and a wonderful light green 15-125. The machine needed cleaning but it sews like a dream. Then came the best part.......it was half price day at the estate sale so this baby came to my house for $17.00. Can you believe it. I'm so excited. I'm cleaning her up and trying to decide a name for her. What a great day. Oh.....the seat that came with her is filled with sewing supplies. Including a four pack of bobbins with a price tag of 39 cents.   She was born in 1956 and is a wonderful addition to my home. I'm having a great time with her.

showes her pretty green color better

irishrose 05-21-2011 05:01 PM

If you haven't pieced on a straight stitch machine, you'll enjoy it. Great find! Gotta love the children!

sueisallaboutquilts 05-21-2011 05:21 PM

LOOOVE your machine!! And your daughter is so sweet to call you!!
Have fun! :D
Oops- how could I forget your furbaby???? So cute :D:D

littlehud 05-21-2011 05:22 PM

I just found a side drawer on the cabinet. I found all the attachments for the machine and a tube of the "grease" for the motor. What fun.

Grambi 05-21-2011 05:28 PM

What a great color! I'm new to the vintage machine club so I hadn't seen one of these. I want one of those now, too.
This is a dangerous website. Enjoy your new baby.

KatFish 05-21-2011 05:38 PM

The 15-125 is on my wish list. Congrats on your great find. You have a very thoughtful daughter. Mine would have passed it by because they think I have too many sewing machines already.

luckylindy333 05-21-2011 05:44 PM

Wow! And you even got the chair and the attachments! What a find!!! I went to a couple of yard sales this week and not one had any sewing machines. I found a few at Salvation Army, but they were too new and too plastic! I drive by there on my way home from my doctor's office, sew why not turn my back problems into a shopping expedition? My back is much better, anyway... I would name her Spring Green!!!

Painiacs 05-21-2011 06:32 PM

Did u name her candy? Candy for eye candy and candy apples! I love the cabinet! I need and want one !

skydiver70 05-21-2011 06:47 PM

A beauty, but it's not likely you will be using the seat that came with it. Already taken!! I love your quilt inspector or should I say sewing machine inspector.

MamaBear61 05-21-2011 07:14 PM

Pretty, pretty! It is a good thing that even though your daughter doesn't sew she keeps her eyes peeled for deals like this one.

Nanamoms 05-21-2011 08:39 PM

Love the sewing machine! It looks great...now I want to add one of these to my list. :)

dinlauren 05-21-2011 10:24 PM

Lucky Patsy's 05-21-2011 10:33 PM

That is wonderful! That is a good machine!

mtnative 05-21-2011 10:51 PM

Oh my what a beauty. Even though your daughter knows nothing about sewing, she certainly knew enough to call home :) about this little gem.

danece 05-21-2011 11:04 PM

Great bargain, love the cat too, you are a very fortunate lady with a great daughter :D

I live on a dead end road a mile long off a major highway. I have a Salvation army store on the corner of my road and the HW. I have to turn there every time I go out or come home. Talk about temptation.Haven't found any great buys yet. Also think their prices are too high.

Stitchnripper 05-22-2011 04:21 AM

Oh that is a beautiful machine!!! Enjoy!

J Carol 05-22-2011 04:37 AM

I think I might call her "Misty" just a thought. She sure is beautiful. Isn't it fun when one of your kids find something and are completely unaware of what they have found! Have fun with her.

aggiebears 05-22-2011 04:57 AM

She's gorgous. How about Pearl or Opal for a name. What a good Daughter.

gunny148 05-22-2011 05:00 AM

#1piecemaker 05-22-2011 05:27 AM

sandpat 05-22-2011 05:40 AM

Lucky you Patty!!! Your newest addition to the family looks wonderful~it appears that your quilt inspector is working hard on approval for the seat too!!

NUTMEG10 05-22-2011 05:47 AM

Congratulations. I love the two tone green, she is beautiful along with your furbaby. Cabinet is to kill for. Lucky you for such a fabulous buy.

I'm so happy for you! Congratulations to you and your daughter on a super find.

Grandma Bonnie 05-22-2011 08:47 AM

I believe I would name her after my daughter that found it for me. What a great machine, cabinet, seat and attachments!

butterflywing 05-22-2011 09:00 AM

a terrific machine and good-looking, too. what a wonderful surprise! not every daughter would know exactly what gusgus liked. oh, and you too.

i actually think those vintage ones from the 50's have a lot more personality than the older singers. just me.

She really is a beauty!

glenda5253 05-22-2011 12:19 PM

Oh that machine looks like a workhorse. I have really come to appreciate the basic metal machine. And with a nice cabinet AND stool........what a score!!!

Mariposa 05-22-2011 12:26 PM

Nice machine! I just bought one off of ebay, and it also needs cleaned. I don't know where to begin. Do you have a manual or anything-?

overdew 05-22-2011 01:57 PM
