Wow! That is 1 BIG quilt! I do like it better with the carpenter's wheel center. Congrats on getting one of your UFO's done also. (I have 1 more that I committed for the challenge and 1 more that I'd like to do for a Christmas gift) I bet your FDIL is loving it!

That's a beautiful quilt. Glad it's going to a home that loves it. I am with Ruth. |
I agree with what people have said, I love it!
There is just something about it..... :D |
That is one of the most beautiful quilts I've ever seen. Do you know the name of it or where it came from so I could go buy a pattern? It's just gorgeous. Makes me wish I was your FDIL! I hope you feel a sense of pride now that it's finished. Not just because you finished it, but it is just so beautiful!

mpeters-
I made up the pattern as I went along. The squares are 8 1/2", the sashing is 2 1/2". The blocks are scraps sewn together- they call them crumb blocks. They alternate with a 4 patch and solid and another solid and 4 patch, amking a big 4 patch (make sense?) The carpenter's wheel came from quilter's cache (free pattern site). The border is 5 1/2" wide, another leftover from another project. It fits a queen size bed, mine is a full size. Love your tag line- we have his/hers and ours. All together 7. We have 6 on their own, 1 home, in college. 2 military SIL- Marine and Air Force. And finally- 3 grands- 2 boys and 1 girl. Only 1 boy is local but I miss the other 2! |
I think that quilt is a lot of fun!

Your future daughter in law is right - it looks like it would be wonderful to USE.
It does grow on one. I think the others are right - it's meant to be a couch quilt - about 62 x 82 worked wonderfully for a couple I made. |
wow! I really like it.My eye is drawn to the center wheel. :) Great job!

I think it looks great!!!!! The carpenters wheel definitely breaks it up!

That's NOT ugly. In fact I think it is fantastic! The black sashing really sets it off. Keep going.
