I was so surprised, but yesterday when I got off work, DH came to me and asked me if I still wanted the new sewing maching or the ereader - I wanted the new sewing maching and guess what we went to WalMart and got it - It is the Brother SQ-9000!!! I really gave up on getting anything since funds are really tight. I asked him why now and he stated that I deserved it which I do... But now we really need to stick to budget and no going out to eat, or anything (we have certain bills coming up in February that we need to save for). but it is worth it. I played with it this morning and I just love it!!! I am one happy camper right now... :)

Yes, thank you.. not that I have awhole lot of stash, but my next project is using my scraps and maybe making a log cabin which I have never done before. I just can't wait to go back to sewing room and have some fun with my machine. I will be off all day tomorrow so I plan on doing nothing but sewing.

thank you all for your very nice comments. :)

Congrats! I am so happy for you! Isn't it wonderful when someone loves you enough to surprise you and support your "habit" all in one fell swoop? Can't wait to see all the wonderful things you and she create together. Well...have you named your new partner?

Tootsie 12-19-2010 12:23 PM

Isn't it just wonderful when our DH's surpise us with something so special, particularly when funds are tight. They are the real keepers. Might now shower us with gifts, but when one comes, its amazing. Happy sewing!!!

annyroony2 12-19-2010 01:36 PM

That's wonderful!! Great Christmas gift!

Ramona Byrd 12-19-2010 02:37 PM

Now go on and make DH a nice lap robe to relax under while he's watching TV. Be sure and let him know how much you love him for doing this. My late DH was a very loving man and bought me whatever I said I really wanted. Still missing him.

CarrieAnne 12-19-2010 04:00 PM

RedGarnet222 12-19-2010 04:04 PM

How wonderful! There is nothing like a brand spanking new sewing machine to make a gal feel loved. Nice hubby sounds like a keeper.

Vanuatu Jill 12-19-2010 08:19 PM

How wonderful he is! I bet he gets nearly the same enjoyment watching you play with it! Enjoy!

Have fun! Nothing like a new machine to make a quilter happy. There's a ton of info on here & on line about scrappy log cabins.String squares are also easy ,using any & all scraps.

How lucky you are!!! Enjoy your new toy!!!

ga447 12-20-2010 08:21 AM

Yes, you do deserve it and Christmas is about giving. Don't worry I will be sticking to a strick budget coming January and February. I have enough fabric at home to do many projects and get ready for Christmas 2011. I started a file already for 2011 so I remember all of my ideas.

Valerie Doiel 12-20-2010 10:23 AM

That was wonderful of DH. A new machine is truly a gift from the heart- HIS. Have fun and happy sewing in the year ahead.

matraina 12-20-2010 01:31 PM

I just bought one of those a couple weeks' ago. Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of all my Christmas baking and I haven't gotten a chance to play with it as much as I'd like.
