Hello, everyone i am so excited i just found a featherweight. at a sewing machine shop. I couldn't believe what he was saying , but he had to have cash.$100.00 So i bought it ,only to find out the light doesn't work , so i will need a light and a owners manual. He added some needles and 8 bobbins.

If you ever sewed with one you would see what all the hoopla is about. They have fabulous straight and even stitches, are good for piecing and on top of all this they are so darn cute.

I went to Weatherford, OK today and went in the antique shop on main street. I was going to look at the treadle machine that they had when the lady told me that the machine inside the cabinet was not very old. she went into the back of the store and came out with a familiar black box. the first thing I said was "OH. a featherweight. I have one of those." She sat it on the cabinet and opened it. I do not know how much she wants for it but it is beautiful. It is in wonderful shape.

Celeste 10-11-2011 05:40 PM

I saw one at an antique store for $350, looks like just this machine. I was glad I already have one. Too much.

MoMiMi 10-11-2011 05:42 PM

Please post how much she wants. One day I will have one come hook or crook and I live in Missouri - we are neighbors.

You can have the light repaired and pick up an owner's manual.

You can print off the owners manual for free. Can't think of the site for that but someone else will be able to give you that info.

In my experience, if you do get the light working, you might be a little disappointed. Mine gets so hot, I don't like to use it as it burns my hand, so I bought a bendy light to use instead. The little bracket is attached to my faceplate, as that way there won't be any danger of losing paintwork if I want to remove it.

Wow, I think that's a great price...so happy for you!

ncredbird 10-12-2011 04:09 AM

I can remember when I found my first one. Daughter and I were at the second day of a yard sale when she walked around then end of a table and found a green and white case sitting on the floor tucked slightly under the end of the table. There was a white Featherweight in it. My heart raced. I didn't even know that they made white ones. The lady wanted $30.00 for it. I didn't have the money but left daughter as collateral while I went to the ATM. I have since found two other black ones and am planning on parting with them. If you might be interested PM me. psychonurse 10-12-2011 04:23 AM

You found a great deal. Congrats. iF only the bulb is blown
it will cost about $3.
Very happy on your find.

Scakes 10-12-2011 04:38 AM

Congratulations! Have fun with it.

SunlitenSmiles 10-12-2011 04:56 AM

I agree with the warning about the light getting HOT - not a problem until you FMQ and then the back of your hand is in the 'harp' so turn the light off then......or if this is the one model where the light is on whenever the machine is on be aware and use a burned out bulb in the light when FMQ

   hope this made sense....hard to explain

nwm50 10-12-2011 04:59 AM

Stitch quality?? Very good ! I use mine all the time unless i want to do zigzaz, then out come the other rarely used machine.. U know it can sew thru thick fabric wonderfully.
So congra's on your newly purchased FW and u did get a good deal !

Doreen 10-12-2011 05:12 AM

See www.221part.com for parts. For the manual you can go to www.needlebar.com. You got a really good deal for $100.00. You did say this was your first one, does that mean that there are more to come your way?
