Cute, cute, cute. Practice drawing some faces on paper first. Usually I go for one thing, but wind up with another. ;-)

tucsonquilter 01-25-2012 07:59 PM

Wow! That is awesome. Where did you get the pattern?

earthwalker 01-25-2012 08:02 PM

Lovely! I agree with Dunster.....I am hopeless with faces, mine always look a bit demented.

QuiltnNan 01-25-2012 08:04 PM

i'd use beads or crystals for the face

jaciqltznok 01-25-2012 08:56 PM

ha...that was one of my very first PP projects as well..still have the magazine it came from!you just do MICRON pens for the eyes, nose and mouth! Unless you are Amish and believe that only GOD can make faces...then, I suppose you are DONE and quilt it!

it was in miniature quilts magazine back in say...1999/2000! But I think they also published it in one of the book publications on Miniatures as well. Would have been that same time period. THey closed up in 2003 I believe so it would be prior to that!

frarose 01-25-2012 09:14 PM

yes little tiny black beads for the eyes for sure. Remember he had little beady eyes and a button nose?

oksewglad 01-25-2012 09:17 PM

Good for you! How cute.

jaciqltznok 01-25-2012 09:38 PM

My thoughts too! It will be perfect no matter how you do it! :)

mom2boyz 01-25-2012 11:34 PM

I love this too! If the magazine is out of business, can you share the pattern with us?

catladyquilts 01-26-2012 03:28 AM

that is just too cute

Jackie Spencer 01-26-2012 04:55 AM

Embroidery might look nice. French knots for eyes.

ragqueen03 01-26-2012 04:57 AM

too cute! I love it! Isn't paper piecing addictive? My new obsession!

brookemarie19 01-26-2012 05:59 AM

Hey! I might have that magazine!! I have to go look. That would be perfect for a little doll quilt that I am doing for the diabetic silent auction that Redgarnet(I think thats who) is taking donations for.

ksdot417 01-26-2012 06:52 AM

Love it. Wish I had the pattern.

no, the magazine is no longer printed, but the publishing company is still active and owns the copyright!

Joan 01-26-2012 07:54 AM

So cute.....I use tiny black beads and leave the rest of the face (nose and mouth) to someone's imagination. It works for me!

miz mary 01-26-2012 08:00 AM

It's in this AMAZING book !!!!
http://www.amazon.com/Favorite-Found.../dp/1885588135

Rumbols 01-26-2012 09:24 AM

Just so cute. Practice drawing on paper first. Maybe just dots for features to start with?

Peggy Jeanne 01-26-2012 11:36 AM

Very nice!

Judith1005 01-26-2012 11:39 AM

Super Duper Adorable!! You could do embroidery for the faces.

KR 01-26-2012 11:45 AM

Agree with above. You've done so well. Fabulous work.

Paper piecing is fun - corners are so perfect. I love your Santas. Why the miniature magazines had to stop I don't know. Lots of people really want them. What would we do without publishers that reprint them in books?

alfosa421 01-26-2012 02:35 PM

I would try to do them all different and make the quilting in their beards different too. Great job and good luck

twixbar 01-26-2012 03:11 PM

Very very nice.

VickyOH 01-27-2012 06:40 AM

French Knots for eyes?

mississippiqltr 01-27-2012 06:45 AM

I think I have that one as well!

mississippiqltr 01-27-2012 06:46 AM

Tiny beads or use a Micron pen.

wendiq 01-27-2012 07:27 AM

Personally, I would make black bead eyes and a button nose...Use a little rouge applied with a Qtip for the cheeks and NO mouth......done several this way. I like to think the mouth is hidden in the beard....it will cute with or without features. I love these mini's. Been making a few myself.......originally, I wanted to reduce stash....Ha! Hasn't even made a dimple....LOL!!!

exactly what i was thinking...Amish Santas.......................ROFLOL....standing back up and finding blocks cling to my clothes

Minnisewta 01-27-2012 08:20 AM

Sometimes I just put in 2 dots for the eyes and call it done, good luck. Yours turned out great!

RDM 01-27-2012 08:20 AM

Very cute. Would love to see your Santa faces when all done.

BuzzinBumble 01-27-2012 08:27 AM

Love your pattern and you did a super neat job on the piecing Miz Mary! Yay for you & paper piecing!
For the faces: how about round red noses and little round black eyes with twinkle wrinkles in the corners?

nstitches4u 01-27-2012 01:34 PM

Sew cute! What pattern did you use?

samie 01-27-2012 03:40 PM
