I haven't been on the site for a while. Just finished my first Quillo. Got some John Deere fabric from an Auntie in Minnesota that My Uncle is a John Deere Man, and thought I would try this. I printed the picture of the tractor off the block and made the pillow design with that and then thought I have to make both sides the same so when it is turned from pillow to blanket, it won't be lost. Took me a while as I couldnt work on it all the time.

Opened as a blanket

Really cute

aussiegirl 10-10-2011 04:08 PM

I got it on line done a search on Quillos. there are a few different ones. the first one I ever seen is what my sister made for my Mom and Dad 20 years ago, and she then gave them to my daughters when our parents passed away so I had to borrow one to look at just to make sure I was doing it right. as some patterns dont explain it well.

aussiegirl 10-10-2011 04:09 PM

No, just made it for myself as a memento of seeing them and of the trip back to the States to catch up with the decreasing number of Aunts and Uncles there is only one of each left from a family of 13

aussiegirl 10-10-2011 04:11 PM

Thanks for the compliment. Still I can see some of the mistakes, but the next one should be better.

Rumbols 10-11-2011 03:59 AM

Great job

logcabinfran 10-11-2011 06:43 AM

great job, i have 21 grandchildren so i have been down the quillow path before. if you want you can add straps & it makes a good overnight bag to tuck jammies in when going to grannys. its a little confusing the first time you make it, but then you realize its a blanket with a pocket.

quiltymom 10-11-2011 06:49 AM

When I made one and sent to my aunt in Fl., she called to thank me for the blanket with the foot warmer. Cracked me up LOL!!!!!

logcabinfran 10-11-2011 06:50 AM

FOOT WARMER !!!! what a great idea.

Happy Linda 10-11-2011 06:53 AM

VERY CUTE

betty jo 10-11-2011 06:56 AM

Love the John Deere

JanTx 10-11-2011 06:59 AM

Back in my daughter's high school drill team days all the girls in the squad had these. They did use the pocket as foot warmers - tucking their feet in and snuggling down for the long bus rides home. I still have hers at my house (she's 29 now) and will have to make some for the grands. Thanks for the picture and the idea!

GramaLaura 10-11-2011 07:04 AM

Quillows are wonderful!! I have made many :-D

EagarBeez 10-11-2011 07:37 AM

really nice a made a puff quilt, my avitar. Took so long to make as I sewed it all by hand. I am sure it took you a lot of time, but, the result sure paid off. Great quilt

arimuse 10-11-2011 12:00 PM

very nice! these are great for taking on a trip with kids, esp if the weather is cooler, they can cuddle up under a quilt in the back seat, or use it as a pillow on the ride sharet

arimuse 10-11-2011 12:00 PM

double post, sorry
