I fail to see the attraction of using microwave bags to cook anything. Besides the inherent dange of fire, it is just another "thing" to wash and take care of. Naked potatoes and corn in husk work great.

So many variables come into play with this hard to say exactly what happened - but will be interested to see what the LQS says :) I have the special batting to make bags- just have to find the time

I fail to find the attraction of cooking things in a fabric bag in the microwave. Call it the OCD safe side of me, but I wouldn't never attempt using one of these nor sell/give them to anyone. Glad there were no injuries.

I have had a couple of potato bags catch fire... I'm done with that... I cook mine naked too

We cook the corn with husk on. Then you take the corn out of the Microwave when cooked, cut the bottom end off (enough so at the kernels) and then hanging onto the tassel end, give it a good shake. The cob slips out the botton, clean as a whistle, no strings. And no mess. I didn't beieve it till I tried it-really works.

scored potatoes or shucked corn wrapped in wet paper towels seems so much easier for me......damp paper towels to wipe your fingers with when you're done too........glad it didn't do damage to your kitchen!

i dont use batting i use a piece of muslin and when i heat in microwave i do it 30 seconds intervals

the same thing happened to me, i made 5 for gifts but when i tried mine out on potatoes it caught fire real quick. i know for sure it was the potatoe batting and all cotton but it was dry and full power, mybe i'll try again, damp and lower power, now i'm just using them for hot pads!

This has happened a lot. I made the bags with warm & natural at first & used all cotton. I took to local fire dept to have them chk, of coures nothing happened but a friend had one catch on fire but she had it on in for 10 min or so. I wondered if there was a sop of grease too. Just don't know but they do catch on fire.
