My New Favorite Quilting Tool.....that we all probably use more than we like
 

I ran across this new seam ripper at a quilt shop. Let me tell you this is the best $6.50 I have spent on a quilting tool in a very long time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. And the thread remover WORKS!!:thumbup:

that is interesting Cajun. Do the 'rubbing the seam' parts feel sort of flexible like bathroom caulk?

Of course I'll have to have one. I have as many seam rippers as I have scissors. The Fons and Porter big red and cream seam ripper handle will remove the cut threads too.

I had one of these in my hand ready to purchase at a recent quilt show and opted against it. Darn.

No it is not flexible like bathroom calk, it is a hard rubber and does not flex.

You enabler you, Cajun. I saw this last weekend at Quilt Expo in Portland and thought to myself, I don't need another seam ripper. Guess what I'm doing this morning....

However, I've always found that an emery board does a very good job of snagging those tiny loose threads! :thumbup:

I may order one. I like how it gets rid of those pesky threads!

That's a new one to me, and it would be well used in my house.

It was recently featured on the Clotilde web site and sold out right away.

I just started taking quilting classes (not my first time however) and the teacher told us about this seam ripper. The entire class had to buy one, think we cleaned out the shop on this one. "seams to work GREAT!" this is now my BFF!!

I was at that show too, sure had the isles between the quilts small. I'm not very big but it was kind of tight in a crowd.

The problem I have with this is that it is round. Mine rolled into a black hole somewhere. I am guessing it went along with my Gingher seam ripper into the trash next to my sewing tale. Too bad so sad.

I bought the same tool on a shop hop this summer, but never tried it. Reason= I can't find it anywhere. Sure hope it turns up or I will have to go buy another one.

I have 2 of them and am asking for another 1 for Christmas. Love it!

I bought one just yesterday at our metro quilt shop hop here in Phoenix. I love it. Unlike my Clover seam ripper it has a top - a useful top - and it fits my hand. I need fat handled tools. Easier to use with my arthritis.

I have this one and I love it. Only mine is pink. :)

I use a small (purse-sized) lint roller to grab the extra threads. Just press down across the cut side of the seam after pulling out the thread from the other side and lift, no rolling so I don't fray the edge of the fabric. Works great!

A couple of other things about Seam Fix: if it gets too much lint from the fibers on it and doesn't seem to pick up loose threads any longer, rinse it off and also, if you use the end with the point on it...or as my students call it the 'boob' looking end; if you had to rip and your fabric has a needle hole that seems large, hold your fabric in place by setting your fingers on each side of the hole, take the nipple looking part of the Seam Fix, and using a circular motion rub the fabric. It helps to push the threads back in place. You won't completely make the hole disappear, but it will be much less noticeable.

I bought it at a quilt show. I love it.

I also use the purse-sized lint roller to clean up the threads and I also use blue masking tape.

I have one too and absolutely love using it! Interesting I paid the same as you did and the other day I saw it for $7.95 at a different quilt shop!

I bought one a while back and really like it, too. Be careful though, it might try to eat you fabric edges. I got a little too close the other day. and it started fraying the edge.

I got mine at the quilt show in Madison earlier this month. It is a great little tool!!

Seriously, we're all like a bunch of junkies. We were having a class in our LQS, and the owner showed us her new item, and well, we all snapped them up, and we're glad!! My old fave is the stainless steel, but those rubber ends are the bomb, I'm tellin' ya!

I was just told about this at a LQS. They were out of them but I'll be searching one out.

I have one - love it! Purchased it at the Vermont Quilt Show.

Something else I've got to have! Guess I need to make a quilt shop run this afternoon!

This looks like a great addition to our "must have" tools. HOWEVER, It's made in China!!! Why do you continue to support them. I've been putting things back on the shelf when they're from China. We send them enough money every year, I don't want to continue to add to it. Now I'll get off my soapbox and do some quilting.sorry.- I just get so mad about that country. Do we make anything here anynmore?
