I had to go get the baby from camp yesterday cause she broke a tooth and needed a root canal, so I decided since I was going to have to drive four hours to the great North East Pa region I would take the opportunity to organize my own shop hop. I hopped to three shops and found some great deals.
One shop called Another Quilt House was AWESOME!!! It is small but jamb packed with goodies at a good price. Plus it has a "room to rent" for little mini retreats. For $5.00 a day you can gather with your friends and sew sew sew. My be a great idea for us Pa'ers to consider. (and anyone else who would like to travel)
Second shop called Mountain Quiltworks has two AMAZING antique quilts that she is quilting. One was well over 100 years old and a five pointed star where the pieces were each smaller then a dime. It was astounding!!!!
The third shop called A Stitch in Time was having a sale with 25% everything and 75% off clearance fabrics. Some FQ's were $.75

I had a great time even though I was all alone. I get to do the trip again in the morning.

Hope the baby is okay! Sounds like your "shop-hop" was fun. Love the fabrics you picked. Most the time I like to go to quilt shops alone because then I can stroke the fabric to my hearts content and not have to worry about holding up someone else. Have fun tomorrow when you get to do it again! :)

What great finds!!! Love those "fruit ladies" fabric!!! Hope DD is doing well and you have another great trip tomorrow :D :D :D

cutebuns 07-23-2009 03:11 PM

Love what yo u found, especially the red and the pebble looking one. Hmmm, makes me want to go along for the ride.

Barbm 07-23-2009 03:14 PM

Was it endless mountain quiltworks in Tunkhannock? were you asking directions to another place from there? was the owner giving them? If so- I was behind you! Please tell me it was you! Of all the times i keep my mouth shut- I'm always giving directions since I travel so much.

If it wasn't you, I'll just sit back down and shut up.

OMG YES it was ME!!!!!!! I wish I would have said something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG OMG OMG I can't believe I was right in the room with another board mate and not know it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tlrnhi 07-23-2009 06:22 PM

OMG YOU 2!!
I would have spoken up, but I talk to everyone standing at registers, grocery lines. Family hates when I do that lol
But, how coincidental is that??
You live in the same state, hours from each other, then stumble upon each other and DON"T know it! lmao

ScubaK 07-23-2009 08:01 PM

Oooh!
How fun...
I do my own mini shop hops every once in awhile...
Instead of going to the same direction I choose a new one and visit the shops, buy me some lunch and enjoy the day...
How fun!!!!
Kirsten

Happy Sewing,
:D :D :D :D :D

This is the thing. I usually do!! But for some reason I didn't this time. I don't know why. Maybe I was just thinking about the directions she was giving me. I was concerned they were wrong she didn't seem too sure.

The tooth thing was an ordeal but it is fixed now and she should be fine until the end of camp. Well I am on my way back again this morning. I think though this time straight up and back. Still 8 hours behind the wheel.

I can't wait to figure something out to do with the beach ladies fabric. The girl at the shop made a bag and stuffed certain key areas of anatomy. It was really cute.

k3n 07-24-2009 02:11 AM

Great finds KW! And how AMAZING you and Barb were right next to each other without even knowing it!!! :D :D :D

reneebobby 07-24-2009 02:59 AM

Nice finds I love the fabrics.

tlrnhi 07-24-2009 03:11 AM

Maybe you should put a hint out as to where you will be so Barb can show up again. :)

mic-pa 07-24-2009 03:12 AM

Sounds like you had a great time. the idea of us Pa gals getting together for a day is a plan I would like to hear about. I have been to Tunkhannock quilt many times but never to the other two you mentioned. Keep in touch. Marge in NE Pa.

tlrnhi 07-24-2009 03:36 AM

I know PA is a pretty big state...have driven thru it TOO many times and even whacked a deer on 78 outside of Wilkes Barre exit. :( :(
Anyway....you all should think about picking a weekend and having a girls weekend visiting each other and quilt shops. I'm sure you could find a central meeting place where you could stay overnight and it wouldn't cost much OR....maybe someone could open their house for the weekend! If ya'll were here, I'd let ya stay with me! :)

Ninnie 07-24-2009 04:05 AM

What a great day you had!!! Glad the tooth is fixed and back to camp.
And that the 2 of you were at the same place is so comical, wish you had known then. Truth is stranger than fiction!

Love all the great finds . Good for you, and I think you and Barb should make plans to meet up again, it was meant to be.

Bevanger 07-24-2009 04:35 AM

cool. sounds like you had a great time. i love all the fabs... i hope the baby is ok :D

Barbm 07-24-2009 05:54 AM

I could kick myself for not saying something. I actually stood behind you for a bit while someone else was being waited on.

Jeepers- I was quiet because I wasn't supposed to be there- I took a quick break from work (the Courthouse is a short distance away) and snuck in. (I always get caught when I'm doing what I'm not supposed to be doing!) Just don't tell hubby I was there. I still have guilt pangs over the $78 I spent.

Well, new rule for me- butt in with whatever in a quilt shop. One never knows who I might run into.

And when you want to shop again (and other PA people) I live 1/2 hr. from Tunkhannock. I know lots of places to eat or we can veg at our house. Pool is open, grill is ready, freezer is stocked.

Barbm I worked at the Courthouse in my county for 8 years. This is getting too weird!!!!! I am all for a mini board gathering!!!

Shemjo 07-24-2009 03:01 PM

It is too weird that you were both there at the same time! I am such a buttinsky, I am sure I would have spoken up, but I don't tell EVERYONE that I am a member of this board, just mention it occassionally!
Are we going to have a special pin to wear or a code word to be able to identify other board mates! What fun!

kwhite 07-24-2009 03:14 PM

How bout when we go hopping we all spike our hair. Then we would defiantly see each other, and if a quilter is there with spikey hair that is not a member here we could feel more ridiculous for going nuts over her. ROFL at my own joke!!

littlehud 07-26-2009 09:31 PM

Looks like you got lots of great goodies. Hope all is well with the baby.

JRSAY 07-28-2009 10:00 AM

Beautiful fabrics you found there. Love the fruit ladies. Your experience with Barb right there makes me wonder how many times this has happened to board members--especially when we go on shop hops.

kwhite 07-29-2009 07:43 PM

Your right I bet it happens quite often. That is why we need to spike our hair!!!

LOL!!!

cutebuns 07-30-2009 07:16 AM

Hey K, you are assuming that everyone has hair!!!!!!!!!

kwhite 07-30-2009 07:17 AM

OK CB you are starting to scare me!!!

cutebuns 07-30-2009 07:24 AM

It is just an observation, I have hair, at least I am pretty sure that I do, though I have been thinking of an extreme hair cut, it is that or I am going to grow it long.

kwhite 07-30-2009 07:26 AM

I have very short red hair. I love to go spikey every now and then. People think I am insane. ( they are right)

cutebuns 07-30-2009 07:31 AM

Join the club, I am pretty sure that I can get rubber stamped

I have done the really short hair and since mine is driving me nuts, I might just hack it off.

kwhite 07-30-2009 07:38 AM

Yes mine touches my ears or forehead and I have to have it chopped.

Shemjo 07-30-2009 07:38 AM

Just got mine cut yesterday, and I could go spikey also!

kwhite 07-30-2009 07:40 AM

Did I just hijack my own thread??? I think I am insulted!!! I should PM myself and chew me out.

cutebuns 07-30-2009 07:44 AM

I helped, so you better PM me as well and chew me out as well!

kwhite 07-30-2009 06:02 PM

Ahh it will never happen chick. Hijack away.

cutebuns 07-30-2009 06:06 PM

I could really use a good chewing out though,

(you don't mind if I giggle though the whole thing though do you?)

Quilt4u 07-31-2009 01:47 AM
