So I have friends that are getting married on Oct. 9 and I want to make a quilt for them - well I just found out about this wedding about a week ago - I started making a log cabin quilt but the fabric I used wasn't working - so I decided to can that idea and went to the LQS and decided to do a double irish chain quilt. Thursday I picked out fabric and today starting the cutting and piecing - just wanted to see if I can do this before the wedding - so I will post my progress as I go along. Here is todays blocks - I have completed 8 of these and have the fabric and strips sewn for another 8 so tomorrow back at it. Wish me luck...

Great job! Beautiful fabrics!

If it were me doing it, I'd most likely get the top done, but not the quilting. Of course I do most of my quilting by hand too so that takes longer. (Well, not really, because if I try to do it by machine there's all the UNdoing to do!)

sidmona 10-02-2010 05:04 AM

Great job so far. You can do it!

I thought I was the only one who did things at the last minute. Nice to meet someone else who does.

I was always under the impression that you have a year to get a wedding present to the couple, so don't rush it!

Wow, so with just a week to complete this quilt are sewing from sun up to sun down? Also are you doing the quilting yourself as well? My hat is off to you. I would love to see the finished product. As said before GO GIRL GO!!!

I think this is going to be a stunning looking quilt! It can be a bit stressful trying to get such a large project done in such a short time frame, but I think you'll be able to do it! Just thought you'd like to know we're cheering you on! Let us know how you're doing when you come up for air on occasion!

;)
