I love mystery quilts. I usually teach a mystery class, every year, at our quilt guild. They all seem to like it as we have some neat quilts turn up at show and tell. Try it, I think you will have fun with it. I know its kind of scary to do the first one. Maybe buy some sale fabric or use stash for the first so there won't be such an investment in fabric. (just in case you don't like the pattern after its done)

The one I did turned out fabulous. I got the directions through my guild. I chose three colors from the color wheel to coordinate with my living room colors. I keep it on my couch. I get many compliments.

I've done a few and always enjoyed the process. Typically use fabric from my stash if possible and most end up as charity quilts. It is the fun that is important!

I did one in a forum & she let us know in advance, it would be a star design, & wall hanging size, so it was fine. Did one with a different group & did not like the layout when done, so I changed it, but still not wild about it. I mostly save the steps now, & see the finished design, then decide if I ever want to do it, or not. Most the time, it's not, lol... I would rather know what I am doing ahead of time...

I have participated in 3 of Bonnie Hunter's (Quiltville.com) mystery quilts and I love them. I did the Orange Crush, Old Tobacco Road, and Double Delight. I have all the patterns for her Christmas Mystery one printed and the fabric is waiting on the shelf. I plan on participating in her new Mystery starting next month.

I've done some and they are fun. I try to pull from my stash and I also figure if I don't like it I can use it as a donation quilt.

I've made two and I was pleased with both when they were finished. One was a project from the LQS. It was so interesting to see what each persons quilt looked like. The different fabric choices made each one an individual. They were so different from one another and yet the pattern was the same.

Sometimes, we don't know what our "thing" is, I like to stretch and try new things. A mystery quilt is step by step and fun. If, upon completion, you don't like it - someone you love will like it and you will have a lovely gift and a new learning experience under you belt - go for it.!

I have done several. Personally, I like them when you are given ideas on fabric selections. As with others, some were GREAT some were NOT!! I have followed some on line, but didn't keep up with the clues - so by the time I was done - a picture(s) of finished quilt(s) were available!

II have done several mystery quilts and that is a favorite way of making a quilt top for me. All of the ones I"ve done have been favorites with family and friends.
