I'm always curious to see the names of quilt shops. Many are quilting related, such as Flying Geese Quilt Shop in Spicer, MN, where my parents have a seasonal camper. Within 10 mile of me, I have Cottage Quilts, in Elk River, Fat Quarter Quilts in Coon Rapids and then Kalla Lily, in Blaine. When I make it to a LQS, it is usually Fat Quarter. Where do you all frequent?

I have just recently discovered a LQS within 10kms (7 miles) of my place that I didn't even know existed. I have been living in this area for nearly 4 years so I can't believe it took that long to find E&E Creations in Newton. It is a very usual little store. She is the community post office, variety store, quilt shop and Pfaff dealer all rolled into one. Out of her building she also runs classes and sells completed projects (quilts, etc) Fabric inventory is not large but excellent quality and the owner/operator is extremely knowledgeable. You can give her dimensions of a project and she can calculate sashing or binding yardages in seconds (now that is talent) I also have nearby Fabricland and Len's Mills where is inventory is larger, but you can't beat the personal touch of your LQS

It's called Just For Fun Fabrics, and it is in Fort Smith, Arkansas. That's down here. Back home I used to love going to Saftler's in Whitman, Massachusetts.

Quilting Adventures, in Richmond Virginia. She just moved into a slightly closer location to me, so she is only 20 miles away now, instead of 27!!! Her fabric sense, choices etc, jive so much with mine, it would probably be bad if she was closer!
There is also JoJo's in Chester, Va, which is about 11 miles away, and its a nice store too!

I generally shop at Sew Many Ideas in Jackson, TN. She has excellent fabric, offers very reasonably priced classes and is a Bernina dealer also. :D

Around me we have: Calico Basket, Windham, ME, Cottonweeds, Freeport, ME and Quiltessentials, Auburn, ME. They are all great and I usually hit them whenever I am in that area, though since Calico Basket is the closest they get more of my money.

There is another one called Kedar Quilts that the owner of a B&B runs in the basement of her B&B and that one is wonderful too. The owner is from England and is a hoot - in her late 70's and has more energy than I do. It is the farthest away from me and in the winter with the snow and ice I don't go there as often.

And then there is Marden's, an all purpose surplus store that carries quilt shop quality fabric. If you are looking for somethng in particular you might not find it, but I bet you would not leave there with out buying something! They carry all the name brand designers and it is usually under $3.00 a yard!
