happynana 02-10-2011 08:28 PM

Did not know that, thanks for the info. Actually it is a very important day for me-my first grandson was born on March 19th three years ago!

jljquilter 02-10-2011 08:44 PM

That is the day that Quilta Claus brings gifts to all good quilters.

SnowQuilt 02-10-2011 08:55 PM

It is my husbands birthday too!!! I don't think my
husband will want anything to do with fabric on his day.

Grandma Libby 02-11-2011 06:25 AM

Maybe we better call JoAnn's and REMIND them it will soon be coming up! If they have nothing PLANNED, maybe that will prompt them! Glad you told us or I would not have known we have that special day!

My local quilt guild celebrates Nation Quilt Day every year with a great gathering of members. Over the years there have been wonderful quilting tutorials, sit and sews, games, and, of course lots of good food. Last year those that wanted to, worked on our raffle quilt. There are always suggestions of what to do and this year we will be making charity quilts. Lots of laughs and lots of fun. Quilting rocks ;>}

Hiya Lace: Yep, knew it was Nat'l Quilting Day. It's always right around my BD (the 16th of March) plus, now it's also during my spring break from school. I plan to celebrate big this year--headed off to a retreat from March 11 thru March 18!

My LQS always has an open house on March 19th. My DH thinks it is silly that a quilt shop that is open 7 days a week has an open house. What does HE know!!!

Normabeth 02-11-2011 11:23 AM

Hi Earlylace
I too live in New Jersey - where is this store located? Right now I only have Joann's to buy material from and am looking to buy some more material - last time I made trip out to PA
Thanks
Normabeth

Does this "holiday" give us freedom to buy what we want or just to quilt all day and not have to cook or clean? I'm for all of the above. LOL

patrcalifornia 02-11-2011 12:35 PM

Our guild is sponsoring a quilting weekend (Fri,Sat, Sun, no nights) with continuous quilting for self or community quilts, mini classes to teach special techniques, food, fellowship, games, sounds like we are going to have fun.
