Ok, I admit it...I'm chicken to start trying to cut my fabric!! I'm just overwhelmed with what quilt pattern to start with and I even have books to browse. So...what would be a great relatively inexpensive quilt kit (full kit with fabric) to purchase to start with. I would prefer a wall hanging, baby quilt or something small like this.

Suggestions, please??

PS: If anyone has one like this to sell, please PM me!! I may have something to trade!

Try Fabric Cafe. They have kits that are really easy to do, including pattern and fabric and they are small quilts. I've made several and they are great for beginners.

Oh my, I just took one glance at the page and will probably be on this site for hours!! LOL

Most kits require that you cut fabric. However, if, like me, the co-ordination of fabrics is overwhelming, by all means get a kit.

Connecting Threads has some great kits for sale. That's a great way to get started.

Being afraid to start in cutting fabric, I think is pretty normal for a lot of us in the beginning. In '97 when I started, my neighbor at that time is the one that got me to try. For over a year, she would have to cut my block pieces for me. I was that petrified. Then she told me I was going to bite the bullet and do it with her watching me. So I cut out 5-6 inch sqares. Then graduated on up. It got me over my fear but took time. Or start small and cut from fat quarters if lg pieces of fabric scares you. You will do fine. A kit may be easiest for you. If you run into issues, someone here is always around to offer advice or help. Good Luck. Oh!!! And remember it is just fabric you will be cutting and not cutting off someones body parts. LOL When my neighbor told me that, I busted out laughing and realized that she was right. If I screwed it up, it went into the scrap basket.

Like the baby quilt pattern...it's all squares and rectangles...no triangles, circles or other intimidating cuts!!
