I love the quilt top! It's girly enough, and because it doesn't scream an age - like some quilts and fabrics do - she'll be using it for many, many years to come.
My border suggestion is a narrow border of white, with a wider border of her favorite color. I'd probably plan to use a solid for the outer border, but sometimes the right fabric shows up at the right time, if you know what I mean. |
How about a piano border in the same colors you used for the main body? I think it would set it off nicely.

How about a ribbon border for a girl?

What about hexies? Would compliment the blocks. You could do each hexie (if you have enough) in a solid like a grandmother's flower then add some vine like connecting from one to the next or one each corner and then middle of each border

How about a scalloped border? See http://thesistersquilts.blogspot.com...mber-this.html I like the floral fabric added on this quilt, but just finishing with a scalloped border would make it girly, IMHO.

I am afraid to post links here or post period lol , but look up raw edge cabbage rose or french rose etc . they would fit nicely with the scrappy theme

So many good suggestions here. The first thought that came to me is applique vine and flowers and leaves with maybe a butterfly, bird or kitty thrown in. Here is a blog I just found with lots of pretty applique that could easily be incorporated into a border, like the vine coming out of the basket with the little heart flowers or scroll down to the pineapple quilt. Lots of ideas and eye candy for applique http://www.therabbitfactory.com/blog/
But being a LAQ I always like to consider enhancing a quilt with the quilting. Have you decided how you are going to quilt it? A plain border can be a stunning canvas for some pretty girlie quilting that won't over power it. If you quilt some sort of floral or feathery motif in the white squares you can carry that out into the border as well. |
How about a soft pink to add softness and then add pink hearts in each center to complete it- would be feminine
Good Luck |
what about this one http://www.quilterscache.com/F/Flowi...rderBlock.html

How about inserting an eyelet lace ruffle along the inside edge of the border or perhaps prairie points.
