I use this Lattice Fold template from Paper Wishes (cost $4.99) to get the same look and it is very easy to use.

It is the double diamond ruler. It comes with 2 different sizes for the diamond. I made the purse using it this summer. Turned out great. Instead of doing the diamond only on the front, I did all the way around. Just don't cut your fabric at the 15 ins. I used a full 30 in piece so I only had to match one seam.

The first time I saw this ruler I laughed. We used the same technique in grade school to make bookmarks. We glued together 2 pieces of construction paper and used our scissors.

I have the set and have used it for bag embellishments and for the sides of vests. It's a pretty easy way to make a nice effect.
