I'm about one or two days away from finishing hand quilting my quilt.....and I don't know what color to choose for binding....I guess I want to use one of the colors in the quilt. What color would you bind with???

Hmmm, maybe the white(cream) ? Or the dark blue(purple)..Its hard to tell colors sometimes on my comp..

Eddie 04-17-2011 05:36 AM

I'd use that dark plum looking color. I just like binding in darker colors since the edges will have most hand contact and tend to soil over time.

watterstide 04-17-2011 05:37 AM

yes, i would also use the darker color..very nice good job!

athenagwis 04-17-2011 05:39 AM

I too would go with a dark color to frame it, the dark plum would be nice! Great job on the quilt, it looks nice!

Cheers!

I'm thinking the dark color

Buckeye Rose 04-17-2011 05:52 AM

I like the dark one too....looks like a frame to what is inside

amandasgramma 04-17-2011 05:56 AM

I vote for darker, too. It would set it off nicely. Great quilt!

Deb watkins 04-17-2011 06:02 AM

I like the green for a softer ending.

carslo 04-17-2011 06:04 AM

A darker something to set if off for the fianl time.

babyfireo4 04-17-2011 06:13 AM

I'm in with the majority, darker would be perfect. Looks great Love your quilt so far!

mltquilt 04-17-2011 06:23 AM

Nice quilt........I agree...... darker binding.

Dina 04-17-2011 06:41 AM

Wonderful quilt!!! I also vote for the dark color, though it looks blue on my monitor.

maryb119 04-17-2011 06:48 AM

I agree, the dark color would be nice.

dar627742 04-17-2011 07:00 AM

I'm not sure. I would have to lay all the prospective colors along the edge of the quilt, stand back, then decide. I might consider using the light blue in the sashing to continue those lines out to the edge of the quilt.

Beautiful quilt!

neeng 04-17-2011 01:21 PM

Somehow, a quilt always looks more "finished" to me with the binding matching the darkest colour in the blocks. Like a frame, I guess. Very nice quilt!

dove 04-17-2011 01:23 PM

the purple that is in your quilt top

117becca 04-17-2011 01:57 PM

what is the backing fabric? I'd be tempted to match that.

Renee110 04-17-2011 07:26 PM

I was leaning towards the dark purple too. The backing is just white muslim so I don't think I want that as the binding.

Thanks for all of the great opinions! This is my first quilt and I don't seem to be that good at colors....

carolaug 04-18-2011 02:46 AM

dark plum....its looking good!

hopetoquilt 04-18-2011 02:55 AM

Just wanted to say "beautiful quilt".

quilt3311 04-18-2011 02:56 AM

I'd choose the dark as I think binding in a dark seals everything in.

I like the darker colors to frame the quilt like a picture frame.

Homespun 04-18-2011 03:08 AM

Nice looking quilt--I vote for the green.

anicra 04-18-2011 03:11 AM

Imho, I would use the darker color - blue/plum(?). I think it will show dirt less than a lighter color.

Scakes 04-18-2011 03:19 AM

I'd use the dark color that is in the quilt . :D

Ditto!

Vat 04-18-2011 03:28 AM

I also agree the darker would just stop the design.

Carol J. 04-18-2011 03:36 AM

Most picture frames are dark to set off the subject so the dark color would do the trick for you.

Rose Bagwell 04-18-2011 06:55 AM

I would use the dark color, it would show off more and enhance your quilt, love your colors.

cafegold2 04-18-2011 07:28 AM

I chose green too.

scraphq 04-18-2011 07:36 AM

Darkest color would be my choice.

mzmama 04-18-2011 07:41 AM

Purple/blue

Mamia 04-18-2011 07:42 AM

I vote for the dark. Thanks for showing us. Beautiful.
