:) I have made quite a few sets of placemats and use thinner polyester batting like I have used on my quilts -- no problem with washing them as mine have been washed many times!!

Thanks for the ideas....

I always just wet the warm and natural and throw it in the dryer works fine

Hi....I'm wanting to make placemats. Of course they'll probably need washing at one time or another. I'm curious about what batting to use. I did prewash my fabric. Should I prewash any batting I put in? Thank you in advance for your expertise....

Craft-Tex makes a Placemat Craft Pack of (4) 13" x 18" pieces of Bosail Craft-Tex Plus Double-sided Fusible interfacing I purchased a pack from my local quilt shop but you can Google it and fine a dealer. It is the easiest I have used to make placemats that hold their shape after many washings.

I've had good results using Warm & Natural batting, and I did not prewash it, but they turned out fine and held up to being washed.

Very pretty fabric.

My son loves the placemats I make using warm and natural. I was afraid it would crinkle up too much, but it is very usable. They cushion the dishes from his stone table quite nicely and wear like iron.
