I never spray baste, only because I don't like the fumes. I have a 60" sq table that I drape the quilt over and use safety pins to baste. I then move it around on the table and the draping sections put enough tension on the quilt to keep it nice and smooth. I have never had any problems with pleats or puckers doing this way. Not only that, but, I am not crawling around on the floor and it is alittle easier on the back.

watterstide, thanks for the link and your pic. I never thought about doing it on the wall. What a great idea and i have a big empty wall in my sewing room I can use.
I use to take them to a fellowshiph hall to do it. Now I can stay home.

your welcome! i am going to try a 90 x 80 on the wall today. i may need help, holding it up first!
with this big one, i may spray the bottom half first, then do the top. pressing it in the center section first..
make sure your backing and batting is alot bigger than the quilt, like you would need it for a long-armer..to avoid having to repositioning it to much.

once it is up,and secure..then i cut off the excess..the less i have to get under the machine arm, (janome 6600) the better!

HI!! I TOOK ONE OF MINE TO THE LIBRARY CONFERENCE ROOM TO LAY OUT. USED SAFETY PINS TO BASTE IT TOGETHER. I JUST NEEDED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO USE THE ROOM. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A LIBRARY CARD THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THEN I LEARNED I COULD USE THE HALL & TABLES AT OUR CHURCH, WHICH WAS EVEN BETTER!!!! IF I DO IT AT HOME, I HAVE TO CLEAR A BIG SPACE ON THE FLOOR, WHICH IS A PAIN WITH MY BAD KNEES. I DON'T USE SPRAY BASTING AS IT TENDS TO GUM UP MY NEEDLE & IS EXPENSIVE.

I use spray clue by Elmer's..less expensive and less fumes..water base..go out on my patio on a big glass table!! I live in Az..if it's too hot..I have done it inside..and it's not bad!!
