toy trucks, blocks (alphabet), I made my grandson a quilt with farm animals

I like making a baby trip around the world using receiving blankets and backing them with flannel. I like finding the blankets in sets of 4 and cut 5 inch squares out of each blanket and when put all together, it makes a nice sized baby quilt. I do a double layer of low loft batting and tie it at the intersections.

I made a rag quilt. I used different kinds of prints for the front; trucks, animals, I love grandma, etc. for the back I used pastels but you could use dark bold colors too. I then cut out appliques of butterfiles, frogs, etc and put them on the back. The reason for this was that the quilt makes a great item for them to lie on but for the first few months you might not want them lying on the fringe so I put the appliques on the back for them to have something to look at. It also gives you a place to sign it and put the childs name on it. The quilt was in the end reversible and it was very much used and loved by parents and child that recieved it.

I just took a class for the trip around the world with Norma Campbell. It's for the freedom twins for the injured soldiers. I only have the pattern for the size that is needed for them so do you have the pattern for a crib size one. I'd love to do that. I decided to take the Christmas material that I've been collecting for the past couple of years and make one called Santa's Sleigh Ride; some thing like that to indicate the trip around the world.

PERSONAL I LOVE THE BOWTIE PATTERN YOU DON'T SEE IT A LOT THESES DAYS AND IT AIN'T REALLY THAT HARD TO MAKE AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL.I JUST MADE ONE FOR MY NIECE'S BABY TO BE IN JUNE 17 SHE LOVE IT AND SO DID ALL THE BABY SHOWER MEMBERS ESPECIALLY THE OLDER ONES WHO USED TO MAKE QUILTS OF THEIR OWN.

When I make a baby quilt, the only question I ask of the parents is what colors are you using in the room. Then I try to coordinate a quilt so it can be used (color coordinated) with the room. If they aren't sure, I stay away from blues and pinks. I have fabric for my next one and it will be done in soft greens and peach. Pattern - undecided.
