Carol's Quilts 03-14-2010 01:16 PM

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the quilting board and so far have enjoyed it immensely except for one thing. I am a self-taught hand quilter and have had much success (at least I think so), but it's been a while since I finished my last quilt and have been thinking of getting started again. I figured I would get a lot of ideas from all of you who post here.

My problem is that so many posts contain abbreviations that I don't recognize and, as a result, a lot of the time I don't know what you are talking about! Is there a list somewhere I can consult to figure all this out? Sometimes I am able to figure out the meaning of a topic from the gist of the conversations, but most times I am lost! Help!

Skyqueen30094 03-14-2010 01:25 PM

yeah I feel the same way but don't be afraid to ask I also google a lot of terms if I don't know what they mean...Welcome to the :lol :-)

MamaBear61 03-14-2010 01:28 PM

Hello and welcome from Ontario. I know there are several previous posts defining abbreviations. I think you should be able to do a search and find the list. You are going to love it here

jljack 03-14-2010 01:37 PM

The Search function is at the top of the page, and if you search Abbreviations you'll find it. Glad to have you here, and don't ever think any question is stupid!! Just ask away...we were all theree at one time!! :-)

quazyquilter 03-14-2010 01:49 PM

your post appeared both times...try going to search at the top of this page, type in abbreviations and you'll get a few there...

chewboo 03-14-2010 01:55 PM

Wow, you guys are great! Such quick responses - I really appreciate the info. I checked all your suggestions and websites and learned so much. Who knew? Just goes to show how creative quilters really are.

I read everything and many times LMS (laughed myself silly, ha ha). Who thinks up this stuff anyway?

My printer died, but as soon as I get another one, I'm going to print out all those references and start myself a journal. Thanks again!
