What I do when I have my heart set on a certain machine, I show him two others that would work (and cost more more more) then all of a sudden, yours looks like a good price.....works for me.

I love my Janome 6600. I wouldn't trade it for anything else. It is absolutely worth the cost. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and spend. Your husband will be glad to see a happy you, if you can posssibly swing it. Good luck.

We all have favorite brands,,,therefore "This is best" will pop up all over. Purchase the VERY BEST top of the line possible...Local dealer offering ful warrenty and service...Plus training FREE when YOU need it, not a once every two monthts workshop. Workshops are great to learn "the New". No matter the brand the store carries the service. I personally use babylock machines and love my Quattro Inovis 60000. Its running a emb design as I check my email..Have fun shopping and enjoy

I have the 6600, and I love it, I have seen them recently for 1000 dollars at a LQS.

I bought a Bernina 20 years ago, I'm still using it. I've gotten my money's worth from her.
I have other machines too and I use them too, but the Bernina1031 is still my favorite.

I generally approach it from a tool standpoint . Men generally understand the value of a good tool. And to get a job done with the best results and the least frustration, your tools HAVE to be good.

I'm having a problem with this whole conversation. Yes, my husband and I discuss all major purchases but the bottom line is this: he decides which brand and how much to spend when it comes to things he is the exclusive one to use. I make the same decisions when it comes to what I use. It would never occur to me to 'ask'permission to buy a new machine. The conversation would be "This is the one I decided best fits my needs and budget." BTW.....that statement would be when I introduce him to my new machine. Let me also say that it isn't our practice to make purchases that are totally off the wall for us. Not even going to tell you my reaction to "convince him I'm worth it". Gloria Steinem would be speechless!

Discuss the financial aspects with your husband. Do you always make spending decisions together or do you need his permission? As an adult, intelligent, professional woman the final say should be yours.

Thats a good idea, some shops will run show specials, it would be a good time to ask if they intend on having a sale.
