Love this! Can't wait to see it finished.

Love what you are doing Lori. I, too, have some HSTs to work with. They are 2 inch ones. I have about 300 of them, just from the quilt I'm making now. Have a bunch of others from different quilt tops. You know, those little corners you cut off..well, I can't stand to throw them away so I just make these little HSTs and tuck them away for later use. Yes, I have a sickness!:D

That is funny! I thought I was bad about not being able to throw away fabric! I love it. But what I want to know is--how are you going to use them? Glue them on something? They have to be too small to sew? I shouldn't ask, I might be tempted to do it! Makes me afraid to try HST! :D

With HST that small I would make Tree of life scrappy. I am actually saving up scrappy 1.5 HST for just this pattern. Here is a link to a free pattern that uses that size.

I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I want to make "Buggy Wheels" that someone posted on this board sometime back. It's a scrappy carpenter wheel type pattern based on light and dark values. Simply type "Buggy Wheels" in the search box at the top of the page and it will take to to several pictures and instructions. It's really beautiful.

I found the post I was thinking of when I searched under "playing with HST" http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...ls-t50718.html

Whichever pattern you choose, please post a picture once you have it pieced.

You are welcome Feathers-n-Fur! I am a newer quilter and always amazed when there are such different methods to piecing a block. I prefer HSTs, they are easy to make and piece. I too like MSQC and bought a jelly roll when it was the daily deal with no plans in mind :)

I love my Ocean Waves quilt. It's 1/2 squares in the 1,000's. I think I had 4,000 in mine because I used pinwheels in the border. I love Triangulations software so I just sewed them when I wanted a none thinking project. I have enough for another quilt.

Judi in Ohio. 4,000!
You must have laughed when we said we have less than 300. Maybe I should just keep making them instead of trying to use them just yet. That is a very nice example you posted.
