Here's the quilt I made with flannel on one side and fleece on the other, I made my son a bigger one, really nice and warm and cozy.

Wool batting keeps you warm and dry. Cottom sweats and hold moisture, then when a cool breeze comes thru you can get cold. Baby quilts are best done with wool, they stay warm but never sweat because it breaths. My grandson has 5 quilts and now is begging for more with wool inside. He is seven and states there is a huge difference in warmth. They do tend to sweat and he doesn't with that particular quilt.

put a second layer of batting or a thicker batting but then will have to struggle with quilting it.

I use a nice warm blanket from the Dollar Store for the batting. They look alot like cotton batting, but easier to wash.I have made quit a few with them, they are very light and very warm.

No matter what you use to make it, it's warmth will come from your heart. Everytime she picks it up and wraps up in it, she'll be able to feel it.

Simply use a used blanket for the batting ------ toasty!

Make a quilt top with her avorite colors and for backing use a solid fleece. The fleece is so soft and warm. My 2 Grandchildren just love there's . They said they are warm sot and cozy

My friend puts a microfiber blanket (from Walmart and Penneys)on the back with no batting and they turn out beautiful. I think that's what they are called, it's kind of like valour. She's made several like this and they quilt up very pretty.

The heaviest and warmest quilt I ever made had Warm & Natural batting and Minkee backing.

Use the "no pill" fleece. Or, if you want to spend more money use minkie but it is harder to work with.
