Hi!

I have been making stuff to sell at markets, and craft bazaars. I want to have a company name. Any suggestions? I use treadle sewing machines for my quilting, and I really like Quilteremily - but Quilteremily what?

Thank you :)

buslady 11-24-2010 09:56 AM

How about qulterbee-emily?

CompulsiveQuilter 11-24-2010 12:03 PM

You've answered the question with the question you ASKED - Emily quilts what? Emily quilts like a crazy woman?

amandasgramma 11-24-2010 12:15 PM

How about "QuiltINGEmily" -- quiltingemily
Quilts by Emily

CompulsiveQuilter --- how about THAT for a business name?? I love her line at the bottom of her post....LOL

Kwiltergirl 11-24-2010 12:37 PM

How about "Emily's Quilting Bee"??

Kip

How about "Treadle Maid" - a little pun on Treadle Made...

Yarn or Fabric 11-24-2010 01:18 PM

Oh - and take it from someone who named their business after their log on names for forums - bad idea.... when searching for things that I had on my website, all I found was replies to the boards I belong to ... I now have a different name for forums since according to hubby it was too late to change the company name :(

Deb watkins 11-24-2010 01:34 PM

What about Emily's TreadleMades

CarrieAnne 11-24-2010 02:06 PM

Oh, I like Debs name!

What about Auntie Em's TreadleMades? it sounds really cute this way and more into the craft shows "scene" at least to me.

ree-nee 11-24-2010 07:26 PM

how about Quilteremily Sews?

nena 11-24-2010 08:25 PM

I like Debs and Auntie Ems. You could have a picture of either a victorian lady or more cutsie lady sewing at a treadle machine, as your logo.

Bonbonary 11-25-2010 04:07 AM

I found Quilteremily hard to read & didn't see the name Emily right away. Auntie Em Quilts was a cute idea.

quilt crazee 11-25-2010 05:33 AM

Emily Maid Creations or w/MADE - finish off the thought. Auntie Em's is very cute, too!

Rettie V. Grama 11-25-2010 06:15 AM

The name Emily came from the Roman name Aemilius. Rather than using Emily, why not use Aermilius Craft Boutique?

Auntie Em Quilts has my vote - very cute and brings up memories when we were younger.

clcoats 11-25-2010 06:16 AM

As a business owner may I suggest that the first part of your business name be Emily. Emily's Quilting for example.
Your name needs to be unique and something people will remember. There are a lot of businesses starting with the word 'quilting' but Emily is a beautiful name and somewhat unique--people would remember 'that lady at the last bazaar whose name was Emily' :-)

EagarBeez 11-25-2010 07:11 AM

Emily's treadlers corner

Treadle with Emily

I would vote for Deb's idea of Emily's Treadle Mades.

dixiechunk 11-25-2010 08:47 AM

The ladies here on the board helped someone else pick a name for a business not too long ago. Since then we haven't heard from her. I don't want to be a part of losing another member!

Love this one--gives a lot of information without a lot of words-

Prissnboot 11-25-2010 09:52 AM

I always liked Sew What! As in "you want me to sew WHAT?"

I like this one because it denotes that you used the treadle machine. Jan

I think Auntie Em would be quite memorable.

What about Emily's Treadle Treasures

I have to agree with this, I was really scratching my head trying to read it. How about "Quilt-Em!"?

inletjerry 11-25-2010 01:57 PM

Love Deb's name for your business.

guess that means I will need to change my forum name:(

UglyCook 11-25-2010 02:15 PM

Just curious, outside of the sewing world, do you think many people know what "treadle" means?

Honestly, I'm hardly sure I know. It's a machine that you pump with your foot, correct? Is there an implied value from the term? I think they are cool machines, and I've never tried one so I truly don't know.

quiltingbee12 11-25-2010 04:00 PM

I love Emily's Treadle Treasures - I think that would work!
QuilterEmily - is that easier to read?

Don't worry - you will not lose me!!

It could also be Auntie Em's Treadle Treasures

luckylindy333 11-25-2010 04:24 PM

When we had a restaurant, we had a rep from the Small Business Bureau come out and give us some advice one time. He said be sure your name says exactly what you do. So be sure and keep it simple. I think Aunty Em Quilts says it all. You could have a picture of a treadle machine in your logo. good luck in your endeavor!

quiltingbee12 11-25-2010 04:29 PM

I am not sure - I don't think so! Yes it is, it is a antique generally.
www.treadleon.net I have one in my profile picture.

galvestonangel 11-25-2010 04:40 PM

I like Aunt Em's (or Emily's) Treadle Made,

I also like: Threadle Made by Emily (or Aunt Em) or you could leave off the name and just use "Treadle Made" that says it all. If all you make is quilts then you could use "Treadle Quilts"

penski 11-25-2010 04:47 PM

i like Debs !!!!
