i bought a Bernina 440 quilters edition last june. LOVE IT . got the embroidery module too. worth the bucks
My other one was a 35 year old Sears Kenmore .
Sometimes you just gotta do it.

I have a Bernina 440 with the embroidery module and love it! Would I like to have an 830? Absolutely! But I can't justify that expense. I think the only 2 things I would like are more throat (harp) room and the 7mm stitch. But the only model with more throat room is the 830. I have heard that they may come out with a middle of the road machine with some of those options....I can hardly wait!

When a new model of any machine first comes out there are some problems that the makers has not perfected.

I have seen the new 830 for $10,000. I think the higher prices are with the frame.

I was looking at the Brother Quattro which has some of the same pluses as the 830 and it is $9,000. So If I had my choice I probably would go with the Bernina. but since both are really out of my price range, I don't have to worry about deciding, ;-)

Yep, afraid so. I understand that price for a commercial machine, but not for home use. Some quilters said they saw it for 9999, without some of the attachments. But all Bernina attachments are very expensive. For that price I would expect it to do my housework so I could have more time for quilting.
