I have a Bernina 440 and a 200E and I love them both. I use my 200 for embroidery on my quilt blocks and the 440 for most of my quilting even though it can embroider. I also would like the 830 but the money is wow really!! You will LOVE it.

Thanks for all your advise and great information!! I just got a call from the dealer and she has a Bernina 830 being returned because the lady who bought it doesn't like all the new fangled stuff!! She is offering it to me at a great deal. Can you believe it? I am so excited and wanted to share with all of you. Kay |

If you look around you can find the 830 for 10,000 new.

I have a Janome 6000 Quilter and it is GREAT!! And a lot less money than a Bernina. It has a even feed foot that works really well, much better than the Phaff even feed system. My daughter bought a Phaff, hated it and a year later bought a Bernina that she loves. But if price is an issue go for the Janome. You will love it.

Last year I bought a used 150QE for piecing. I'm not sure about other machines but the Berninas have different bobbin systems. Some are better for embroidery and some are better for straight stitching (piecing) thats why I bought the 150QE, the bobbin system is better for piecing. Don't over look a used machine. I bought mine from a Bernina dealer. I knew she would stand behind her machines. Do your research to find a machine that fits what you want to do. Do not purchase one on $ alone. You get what you pay for.
