I found this Shape Cut on clearance at Walmart and was wondering if any of you use it? I paid $13 and trying to decide if I want to keep it. It is still in shrinkwrap so I haven't tried to use it so not sure how well it works.
Would appreciate your opinions!! |
I use mine all the time. For pretty much every quilt I make.

I found one at Walmart as well. I didn't buy it the first time I saw it. After reading all the great reviews, I ran back and purchased it. I love it!

Well!!! I think I have my answer. :) Mine is the 12x12. I also picked up a 6x24 for $4.50. Not sure why these were put on clearance since my WM is re-opening their fabric section. But who am I to argue with them about it!! LOL
Absolutely LOVE my Shape Cut ruler.
I have the 18" one and don't know how I got along without it!
Maybe I should try using mine. I just can't get the hang of it
I have the 12x12 and the 12x18 -- and I use them all the time. They are great!! They help my cutting accuracy and it is pretty fast to make the cuts for my quilts.

Agree with every word- love mine, use it for everything.

Walmart isn't stocking June Taylor products any longer. They switched to Fiskars and Simplicity.
It is great for cutting strips! There are videos on Youtube that show how to cut squares, rectangles and triangles with the Shape Cut too. Well worth $13, I'd say!

My absolute favorite ruler for strip cutting, couldn't live without it. Don't know why walmart is getting rid of june tailor stuff. I love it.
In addition to cutting strips I am using mine to square up blocks. It is just the best llittle invention. Love it!!!!
I think they are clearing out the June Tailor line of things.
I'm on my second one in 18 years...I use it for ALMOST every project I do...can ya tell its my favorite template?
I have the Quarter Cut 6x12 and the Shape Cut 12x12. I see myself getting more. I love them. I just need one that cuts ?7/8", so I can make decent triagles. BrendaK

I dont like anything june taylor. Its soft and my rotory cutter cut it. I thought it was just that particular ruler but its not. I bought another june taylor 6x24 and I'll be a monkeys uncle if my rotary cutter didnt take a nick out of it also! No more june for me. I would suggest a better quality or you'll be replacing it in no time.
Love my 2 but they were never used until I ran across the video on how to use it. It is such an eye-opener.
I like it and I use it a lot. I think it's well worth the money.
I lllloooovvvveeeee mine!!! Made my life sooo much simpler!! I'm running to wm tomorrow just to see now! Lol

I love it. You should unwrap it!
you will love it! made 2 Summer in the Park quilts and the strip cutting was so fast and easy with the Shape Cut. I'd still be cutting strips instead of finishing the binding if I didn't have this ruler. Take off the shrink wrap and use it. again, you'll love it!
This is how much I love mine...
If I were to tell a new quilter what to buy this would be item #2 (item #1 would be a sewing machine). It truly is the BEST ruler I have and the one I use 95% of the time. Actually, when I need to go to another ruler I almost get annoyed :) Take the shrink wrap off and enjoy it! Suzanne |
I like mine.

I love my June Tailor rulers!! They make cutting much quicker and more accurate for me. I already had all but the one that cuts only 2 1/2" strips, but when my Walmart put them on clearance, I bought extras!!! (That's how much I love these rulers!)My Walmart put all of their rulers on clearance and restocked with Fiskars brand rulers.
I am right handed and always used the ruler with the 0 to the left and the bulk of the fabric to the right. I saw a You Tube video in which the lady turned the ruler around so that the 0 was on the right with the bulk of the fabric to the left. I tried that and have done it that way ever since. With this layout, when I am holding the ruler I am holding the bulk of the fabric still instead of just holding down the strips I have already cut. Here is a link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KcoJ...ature=related. |
