Since D9P makes the block smaller you would need to account for the size difference. To me the music theme ones are on the corners so they would still be large as far as seeing the design.

I like them as they are...you can see the prints nicely.

I would still do the D9P. They look so go for not much extra work.

With your scrappy blocks (I love scrappy!) I think the 9P might be best. In my opinion, the D9P adds lots of interest to a quilt when the 9P blocks are all the same. You already have lots of interest in your quilt with your wonderful scrappy blocks.

I like the regular 9 patch with some sashing myself.

Just go with what will make you happy...I am a fan of both designs. Your blocks and colors will make this quilt gorgeous either way.

Thank you all and here is what I decided to do! I made more blocks and decided to make one of each! LOL. So now I have the D9P top done with the black sashing. Am thinking about adding another scrappy border to it.
And I have the blocks for the regular 9P. I don't have enough black to sash this one, so am thinking about what to use.

Would scrappy sashing in solids take too much away from the 9P? In this I am meaning to have each sash one color, but mix the colors up?
I could do a 3 strip sashing in red and brown, and make 9P cornerstones to go with it.
Any other suggestions?
I could decide myself, but I love hearing all of your interesting ideas on how to do things!
