Well, thank you all for your choices and thank you for telling me why!! I LOVE D, but agree is it not for the border of this quilt, but it just may find its way in as the binding!! It does make my eyes go wonky and I was trying to figure out how I would quilt it! Throwing out D! And, after reading the reasoning behind the choices, C is out too.

AliKat 04-04-2013 10:24 AM

Whichever you want ... but I definitely don't like the last choice, D.

Maybe even consider a very small almost flange like red strip to separate the border for the quilt.

quiltstringz 04-04-2013 12:27 PM

I like A best

decky 04-04-2013 01:40 PM

My vote is for B.

B for sure! D kinda made me dizzy...

Luv Quilts and Cats 04-04-2013 02:46 PM

I like B and I like your quilt!

Ohhhhh...never thought of that! If I did a color there, it would probably be a hot pink (daughter's favorite color), but I will audition both red and pink - THANK YOU!!!

Farm Quilter 04-04-2013 02:59 PM

AND THE WINNER IS...............B!! I really appreciate all of you giving me your input and especially explaining the "why" to me. I prefer B because it is the darkest and I will use the material's pattern for the quilting of that border. I really like all the fabrics, even the one that makes you go blind (D), but I think B is the best choice for this quilt. And now that AliKat has put the bug in my ear about red/pink for a little separation....do I do it in scrappy bars of fabric (like 2.5"x5") that kinda copies the scrappy of the hearts, love knots and Delectable Mountains...or a single piece of material??? And should there be a flange of the same red/pink between border B and the binding??? This is such a fun process and I really love the input from all of you - thank you so much!!!

Ditto. If you are going for a more modern look A would be my choice. B looks more traditional to me. Sorry but I don't care for C or D with that quilt, though I do love the fabrics.
Oops I see now I was late to the game. I think you made an excellent choice. The flange is a great idea, and D will make an excellent binding. Can't wait to see this one finished.

I LIKE B the best! Nice quilt!

benndm 04-04-2013 05:18 PM

I vote for B then A

mamaw 04-04-2013 05:19 PM

I vote for B

Cybrarian 04-04-2013 05:28 PM

1st choice is C 2nd choice is B. Love your quilt!

QuiltNama 04-04-2013 05:34 PM

My eye kept going back to A, B is very pretty for a woman but A fits either male or female.

KISS....keep it simple sewer....use a single piece of fabric in the flange. Also, no. I would not put one between the border and the binding....KISS.

patchsamkim 04-04-2013 06:13 PM

A is my favorite, B would be my second choice. D would make me dizzy.

Boston1954 04-04-2013 06:22 PM

I vote for B.

jfowles 04-04-2013 06:27 PM

B is my favorite!

Rose S. 04-04-2013 06:44 PM

I have not read all the input, but will say for some reason A draws me in, but honestly, I would like any except D....and I don't like it at all.

lfstamper 04-04-2013 06:49 PM

I like A or B! Beautiful quilt!

newbee3 04-04-2013 06:56 PM

I agree A has my vote

rosalynd 04-04-2013 07:47 PM

A or B!
C is too chunky and D just doesn't seem to fit the quilt.

LOL If I had kept it simple, I would not have done the lover's knot border since I had no pattern and had to design it myself! Besides, in a class, Karen McTavish said "Do the hard thing" - yeah, she was talking about the quilting but...with all the controlled scrappyness going on in the rest of the quilt...I'm seriously thinking about a 1.5" by 3" bricks to make that lovely pop of red/pink. And it is all your fault, AliKat!!!

jmoore 04-05-2013 03:06 AM

I like both B & C... D doesn't feel like it belongs at all. Just MHO

MadP 04-05-2013 03:26 AM

I like A best then C second.

Amythyst02 04-05-2013 03:31 AM

B is most certainly my pick

southernmema 04-05-2013 03:38 AM

I like B the best

BMP 04-05-2013 03:43 AM

I like B best

dd55 04-05-2013 03:52 AM

i like b the best.

SandySews 04-05-2013 04:16 AM

C would be my favorite.

paoberle 04-05-2013 04:19 AM

B because it does not overpower the quilt design.

coopah 04-05-2013 04:28 AM

Any are good, except D.

Reba'squilts 04-05-2013 04:42 AM

I choose b. but a is nice too.

tildiemae 04-05-2013 04:48 AM

I agree ... I like A or B....very pretty quilt!

Dollyo 04-05-2013 04:54 AM

I like B best, it adds movement without overpowering the quilt. C would be my second choice, but it's just a touch too heavy. A doesn't add anything to the quilt. D overwhelms the quilt.

Shrink42020 04-05-2013 05:01 AM

A, then C for me!

tessagin 04-05-2013 05:01 AM

I keep going back to "B" but I think it depends on who it's for. My granddaughter love's illusion so that would be "D". I like "B".

katesnanna 04-05-2013 05:04 AM

C works for me.

Gerbie 04-05-2013 05:25 AM

A or B both C&D take away from the beauty of the quilt, eyes are drawn to the border. Do you have a solid? My next question why are you using black? Perhaps one of the other colors in the quilt will make it look softer in my opinion. Yes I love black, but I don't think I like it on this quilt, but I can't see the entire quilt, from the pictures. The other colors look great.

patchwork 04-05-2013 05:31 AM

I like B best because it does not distract from the quilt. It is more girly. A is good but a bit more neutral. C and D are way too bold for this beautiful quilt.
