Now the question is does she have discriminating tests for quilt blocks? If not how complicated and large donyou want to go? I have done a very very complicated bed quilt for my dd and now am finishing up a dnp cut on differently. There are thousands of ways to go. Go out and pick up two purple fabrics that you a love and think she will like the go from there once you have a couple fabrics you can get an idea of how many more you will need for what ever pattern you end up with. I found this works well because you might have a fabric that works better in one pattern than another. This is just me though.
As for simple patterns for an older "toddler" I would say a dnp or rail fence. If you want to get more complicated there is one called summers sun on quilters cache. I love it for little girls. I made it for my dd as part of a bigger pattern for my DDS bed quilt. It can look like a flower when you are done depending on fabric placement. |
This is a darling quilt and can be customized with size, color, graphic, etc. Jelly roll friendly and no pattern needed. Just a thought https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...4490162&type=1

Try modabakeshop.com. They have kinds of lovely patterns that are easy to make. Also Missouri Star quilt company. Enjoy the process. :)

You could start with buying purple embroidered little girls. Joanne puzzle has some really cute ones there on E Bay. I have used a few sets for my niece's quilts and they love them. She is reasonable and has lots of her blocks on sale now. She does lovely work and I have bought many of her block sets.

Well, my default quilt is a purple quilt. Let me see if I can find any pictures that might give you ideas. Yup, here are a few.

Well, of course, I forgot to say what they were. In order they are What Knot by Rita Fishel, puzzle quilt (don't recall where I found that), Take Five, hmmm...just a focus fabric and four patch, and Trip around the World. You can't go wrong with purple quilt. A Rail Fence in three shades of purple is also good, but I can't find my picture of it.
Hope this is helpful? Dina |
For little girls, I usually make a large Sunbonnet Sue, dressed up in a fancy dress, bonnet and apron; I use lots of flowers and balloons, sometimes adding honey bees or little birds flying around. And sometimes I will add the little girls' name vertically on one side or the other. They are cute and don't take a really long time...only about 10 hours or so. And the little girls and their Moms really love them....
