FedEx ground kinda makes me mad because they don't always ring the bell but they are usually here by noon. Glad you got the package. Design is pretty.

you can sign up for this online service with both fedex and ups. then, like debra said, you can track it by it's tracking number. if it does go astray, you know approximately where and can report it to the delivery company and the seller. sometimes websites charge extra for a 'signature needed' delivery and sometimes boxes are sent out without signatures being needed, so it's wise to keep on top of it yourself.

if you have a really large mailbox you can request a squishy. maybe they'll do that for you.

That's a shame. In Texas UPS would never leave a package without getting a signature. if left with a neighbor they had to put a notice on your door. Here in Colorado they drop it and run!!!

I ship a lot of stuff for my ebay store and have only had 2 instances of a package being delivered but the customer never found it. The only solution I came up with is to send with required signature at additional cost to the recipient. Can be a pain if no one is normally around to sign but is one way to make sure that a package isn't dropped on your porch.

eb - can you ask for a secondary shipping address?

pittsburgpam 05-06-2009 03:09 PM

What I didn't know then but I know now is that the order number that Whittle's gave me IS the tracking number. I didn't know that, all it said was your order # xxxxxxxxx has been shipped. There was no "tracking" info, no shipper, no delivery date or anything.

Not all shippers give you tracking info but I do track the ones that do.

The Go! Cutter shipped today and is scheduled for delivery on Saturday. :D

I've had that happen to me, and it is maddening!!

So I did two things...first, I went to the post office and
rented a box there. It wasn't expensive at all, about 40
dollars a year.

THEN, whenever I bought something, I either had it sent to
the post office, which some companies don't do, OR had
to have someone sign for it.

patty sue - i can't imagine why they won't ship to a box. after all, it's already been paid for, so they're not losing anything. do they think the postpeople (PC) will steal it?

Patty Sue 05-06-2009 08:47 PM

It's possible they have this rule because of the size of
the box, or for whatever reason I can't think of, but it
must make good business sense to them.

I'm far too old to worry about things that I can't control,
just try to learn how to get follow rules. If not, then I will
go elsewhere to spend my hard earned money.

I believe the reason they won't ship to a PO Box is credit card fraud. Shippers have no way of telling, who rented the PO Box and who is actually buying the items online.
