If you are looking to enlarge the quilt, what about playing with the placement of the blocks to make pinwheels and put plain white squares between the blocks of pinwheels maybe?

I've been playing around on eq7. The center isn't exactly like my HSTs, but close. What do y'all think of doing the borders like this?

What fun shapes and colors; a learning quilt would be great. Thank you for sharing that concept; perfect.

you could find a fun print and mix in squares to make it bigger.

I don't have an answer, but my adult son, who doesn't like quilts, was looking over my shoulder and said "If you ever make me a quilt, I want one like that."

Neat, huh. He may very well get one...if I get a bit better at this quilting stuff. :)

about a 2" inner border and then the larger one. I personally stick with solids to compliment the solids of the blocks.

Since you don't have primary hues of blues in the center I wouldn't use primary colors in your border. It washes out the center; try the same colors in muted shades and I think your quilt will much more pleasing to the eye.

I agree with what you're saying. My actual colors do have some primary blues, but I will try some more muted colors to see how they look.
Thanks!
