I had a bunch of HSTs left over from another project (which I'm still working on and you may have seen on another post--in 12 shades of blue). Anyway, I want to make a boy baby quilt using these HSTs, and I like the arrangement, but it's too small and I will need at least 10" of border all around. What type of borders do you think would work here? Should I add some other color? Maybe a pale yellow?
I've been staring at it for a while and can't come up with anything, so I'm really eager for suggestions. |
i would think something in a print..... blue print......

Hoffman just came out with a line of fabric called "It's a Jungle Out There" with lions and elephants, etc. One of the color ways has blues and green in it. I think it would be perfect for your quilt.

i don't think i'd use yellow. if you have blues left, you could do a border like this one http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-135102-1.htm#3621423 perhaps using your darkest in the place of the white on the other poster's.

I think a red and white and blue prarie(sp) point might look good.

a narrow yellow border and then a wider print maybe? :D:D:D

This reminds me of ocean waves, what about doing a pieced or appliqued border of sailboats around the water? That would enlarge it by quite a bit and really give it some interest over plain borders.

A narrow white border to frame the blues and then a medium blue. I'd keep it simple and use variegated thread for the quilting.
