maybe i'm wrong to count this way, but if you don't count the center row, there are two rows shy on the UP side. that will bring your pattern into balance. it's a lovely quilt and i agree, unless you need it bigger, use your darkest fabric, or brightest, as a binding. i also like the idea of a co-ordinating batik border for size, but then, i love brights and batiks mixed!

I wouldn't use any of the colors in the quilt for a fist border. The colors will 'bleed' into it in any area it touches. I'd use a very narrow black (cut 1 1/4" to finish at 3/4' or cut 1 1/2" to finish at an inch), then a wider border of your favorite from the quilt fabrics.

It's beautiful, but if you want borders, how about a 1" finished gold from the center of your colours and then a 2" finished pink and then bind with the dark? Each of us have our preferences, that's what I would chose. :D

I too say NO to borders. It will take away from the beautiful simplicity of the quilt. What a great job.

WOW! It is beautiful as is, but if you want it bigger & or a boarder on it, I would go for a 1 1/2 " of the same white in the quilt then a 3" orange used in the quilt & the binding in the darkest color in the quilt. As I said before, Tom, it is beautiful & you done a fantastic job on it.

I think I would go with a small border of the fabric next to the maroon and them bind it with the maroon. Your quilt is lovely!
