I made a quilt for Henry, my Golden Retriever. He decided that the best place to have a nap in this entire house is the living room chair. So I made this quilt to cover the chair to try to keep his hairs and drools off the furniture. He was a bit afraid at first to get up in the chair with the quilt on it but he has settled in nicely and naps there every morning.

I have several that I use in the van on the seats and on the floor so that everybody can find a spot to lay down. I also use the larger ones on the couch and big chair. It is so much easier to throw the quilt in the wash than dealing with the upholstery.

When the fleece is on sal e at Hancock, I purchase a full bolt - or two - in the heather gray color, because it goes 'with' everything. But there are so many colors that you can really go wild.

I have also made quilts/blankets out of just fleece - front and back. The older dogs seem to realy like them. They don't 'dig' inthem as much as the younger ones and they really like the cuddle feel of the fleece.

Since my dogs (Great Dane & Rottie) sleep with me, I make fleece blankets for my bed so I can wash them often. When they start getting thin I let the dogs use them on the floor. They love them. They also like bandanas. My great dane loves them; the rottie got jealous I guess because one day when I held one out for the dane the rottie put his neck in it. Now they wear them all the time except in the summer time.

I made a quilt/blanket for both of my grand-pups. They love them. They are fleece with flannel backs. Even put satin binding on them.

That quilt is lovely and dog is just beautiful. But I have not seen Lilacs since I left New England 8 yrs ago. Brought back some great memories.

I make my dogs quilts and they love them.

I also make them "beds" too, like the kennel mats.

I saw the cutest thing ever on here, it was a tent for dogs/cats. I bet any dog or cat would love it. Let me see if I can find the thread.

My 2 that are part chihuahua part daschund both love to root around in a blankie or old shirt or rag until they get underneath the thing, and sleep there.
So yes, I'd say they'd love their own blankies.

Tippi, My little pug claims any quilt that is on e sofa or a comfy chair. I keep a small one just for her and she always "adjusts" it with her paws before settling down. A friend makes her two dogs matching bandanas for special occasions and sometime the female dog (which happens to be my Tippi's mother) greets visitors wearing giant pearls strung by my friend. I tried that but Tippi thought the pearls were edible....There are also cute dog applique patterns on the market that would make neat pillows or throws. Tipp sleeps on pillow I covered with denim. I can take off cover and wash.

I have 2 large and 2 small dogs, none of them like to cover
up. Mostly they lay on the floor or on the couch.

I think a blanket sounds great! My dogs love to lay on anything. They have beds, but they love a rug, sheets on the floor when I strip the bed...anything will do! I guess it depends on the age and disposition of the dog as to materials. Mine were never chewers or diggers, so they are easy on fabric! Just want to be sure it's washable!

I made a blanket sort of for my dog that likes to get way down under the blanket. Also my daughter used these for her farrets. That is where i got the idea from a ferret catalogue. I made a retangle blanket and folded it in half sewed up one short end and the long end. Then on the other end I sewed polyester horsehair braid. It will keep the opening where they crawl into the sleeping bag open. You just have to remember to make it deep enough.
